j davies 8
i have a bit of permission but like doing a bit of poaching with a few boys on here , havent had any bother cept last night of season ended up hiding in a river from the keeper , just how many of you guys have had a beating for poaching sounds extreme for taking a few rabbits. its not the rabbits they see mate its there birds they looking after one bird to them is worth £70 on some shoots mate thats why they like they are. i go to farms near the shoots and only for rabbits i got 2 dogs that are worth a lot of money and dont want them shoot yes they do go in the woods neaxt to my permiton but i go to see the keeper fir=st tell him im around on the day that way he noes im there and my dogs are to. if you speck to them tell them what your looking for you will find they work with you. the problems start when other people go there with out telliing them they take the birds to or scare them one near me lost over 500 in one night not killed just got up and left the shoot. how the hell does he explain it to his boss . i no most are wxnkers but just see it from there point to Quote Link to post
jack_frost 0
Thats a fair thing to say j davis BUT it depends if your face fits and me and other dog and ferret men look a type of way, as in i can spot one a mile off and i am sure the lads on here can 2 and keepers etc dont like it mate.I do understand that their birds are their bread and butter and they have to answer to their boss but they already made up their minds as soon as they see a lurcher so its hard to treat others as you would wish to be treated sometimes. Swampy 147
OK folks, here's my tuppence worth. Poaching is against the law. Tresspass is against the law. If you get caught you have very little chance of winning the arguement. They can take your kit (including hunting paraphenalia which includes dogs lamps nets priests etc) but have to hand it over to the police as evidence. They cannot keep it. So the options are simple. Risk taking a kicking, Risk prosecution. The shooting of your ferrets and dogs is a definate NO NO from the perspective of the game keeper as he would have to prove that they were causing a nuisance in relation to livestock. You'd still have a tough case to prove tho' I have had just had a visit from the area firearms officer who wanted to let me know that he is aware that I was stopped by the police on suspicion of drink driving. I passed the roadside test. He did inform me though that had I failed it and was prosecuted I would lose my licence! Whether this applies to other criminal offences I do not know but is it worth losing your guns too? Get permission! It aint hard if you speak nicely to folk. Most Keepers my way encourage ferreters if they are asked. I often get hassled for not working their land and the've heard I've been elsewhere! Be nice to all and it shall be returned ten fold Quote Link to post
jack_frost 0
Ok mate your right in what you say spot on but it all depends on how you look and you can be as nice as you like but unless you fit and i am sure you know what i mean not clothing etc but the type of lad you are, i am straight talking fella not a theif and dont lie but i do look like i was a extra on planet of the apes buddy and they cant see past that so that makes things hard. And i have land you run dogs on and shoot and ferret but only due to my friend being a fam manager otherwise i would be out mooching about i am sure. jack_frost 0
See what i mean about dog men a breed unto ourselves i would rather keep it that way and mix with ppl like us than have to be nice to some wa~~er so that i can walk his land with him looking at me like i am going to rob him all the time and i am sure lads on here feel the same.
