scottishlass 57
Sadly my other half's gran passed away last week, she still lived in her own house but had carers. So we had to go across last week and sort the house.Spent a day packing things up throwing out some stuff the next day we moved out all the furniture what we wanted. There were a few bits left so we thought we would offer them to the social so they could give to people who were in need of some stuff. There was a cooker, washing machine, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a wall unit. Well they turned up today took the cooker and washing machine and said the rest was to old fashioned they did not want it,it was not that bad ,surely someone with no money would have been grateful to get some of this stuff. The best part the other halfs mum was now left with a load of stuff in the house and no way to get rid of it and it had to be out by the end of the day so we had to drop everything hubby had to sort time off from work borrow the landy and sheep box and go empty the stuff which sadly ended up at the tip. What a waste Surely with people getting paid of and people finding things tough money wise at the moment someone would have wanted the stuff. Swampy 147
I once went to my recycling bins to drop of the empty cans of cider etc.....took ages! Then went to the oxfam shop to see if they wanted a box of toys that my kids had grown out of. All good stuff nothing broken or missing. Was told they didn't have the room. OK back to the car and back to the tip methinks. I was parked behind a cop car and was just about to pull away when the woman from the oxfam shop runs out taps on the cop cars window. Out steps plod and asks me to take a brreatherliser as the woman said I smelt of booze. Of course I fekin did I'd just been handling dozens of empty cans of cider with their dregs in! Passed the test got an apology from the cop and went on my way. I have since learnt that oxfam only donate a minute percentage of theri takings to good causes, the rest go on "overheads" Will not be donating to oxfam again

Reminds me of a story where a bloke put a perfectly good fridge freezer on his lawn with a sign saying "free to anyone". Stayed on his lawn for a week. Next week there was a sign on it saying "For Sale £50"..............It disappeared that night! Swampy Ning
