Richie10 345
Went out last night, long slips and long grass. No rabbits for me. Going to try the red filter tonight. Would it be worth it on a rainy day? Want to get the dog back upto fitness again. Cheers Rich Quote Link to post

Guest miller1989
We were out last night trying out the new lamps and batterys and to give the dogs a run havent been out in weeks,we saw alot of quarry, my bitch took 3 hares(shot and retrived) and a bunny for the freezer, could have took many more as there are loads of hares infact infested with them,we watched the roe deer grazing on side of wood, and seen 4 foxes which we left for now! So realy some dog food, trying the new lamps and batterys, and checking out the new permission! Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
I wouldnt waste your time lamping in the long grass, the dog will waste a lot of energy bouncing around trying to follow the rabbit and like gaz says they tend not to sit so far from sanctuary, I would stick to the shorter grazed fields until they start cutting the silage. This wet weather the grass really shoots up fast! Quote Link to post

Cheers guys. I dunno, I always feel a lot of sqeakers about tends to do more damage to a dogs training than good especially if you are ferreting. Squeakers constantly popping in and out of holes through nets, the dog soon takes it for granted they are going straight back down the hole. As for lamping squeakers, how desperate can you really be? Kenny.B 1
Apart from maybe slipping a young, or training dog on a few half growen rabbits, why would people be lamping this time of year anyway? Surely you are just killing off this coming seasons quarry. If your dog is use to catching half growen squatters, surly it will turn its nose up when the harder, full growen rabbits start getting up. Just my own thought. Quote Link to post
