Background on your surnames

iv been telling the mrs for years im not a taff and now i am :laugh: our son can play for england or wales :gunsmilie: my family came from raider think thats how the welsh spell it :icon_eek:

I only thought of it because 1) We drove through there the other day, & 2) I just dine a trace on my Nan's maiden name & it came up with that area! :laugh:

Oh yeah we did didn't we :laugh: forgot about that :doh:

There were no results found for your selection. There needed to be at least 100 people with the name on the Electoral Register in 1998 to be in the database. We are hoping to add these missing names at a later date

 

there is very few of us in the world probably only 10 in the uk, 2 in canada and 2 in the u.s. but the people over the water do trace back to the uk ... would love to know where it comes from??

North east scotland,aberdeenshire area,in fact i know some of my family had a farm in Alford,not sure which clan the 'massies' were part of,been there and seen some gravestones and my great uncle leslie is on the memorial stone from the war. (1st world war).

Sadly the farm is not there no more,redeveloped into a housing estate.

I was born a McCallum - think the name originated around Oban if I remember correctly. Tis a pretty common name.

 

The name I was adopted to isn't on the register tho.

 

My married name is also a Scottish one, lots of them up in the Shetlands etc.

Same sorta thing for me, doesn't recognise my surname, not surprising though, its not common at all.

I cant say anything as i married him so now have his surname, all i get off people when i tell them is thats unusual. Our poor daughter is going to have fun at school lol
