5's for pigeon

Recommended Posts

I have used 5's for pigeon before and some of my mates swear by using what i think are massively heavy cartridges such as 50g victory no 5's!! Personally unless im expecting large no's crow i will use 30g 6's or 6.5's as i find them a more effective cartridge and a tighter pattern! Thats my opinion anyway :D

You can shoot pigeons every time using 5's, 6's or 7's, each will kill cleanly at good ranges.

If you want to maximise your chances you need to look beyond shotsize and look at load, choke and range. It's hardly nessesary to use 32g 5's through a tight choke to shoot 25 yards over blown wheat!!! But roost shooting through branches on a February night????? It's more about changing your cartridge and choke to suit your needs.

Mark.

I agree choose your cartridge and choke to what and where you intend to shoot, I always take my full set of chokes with me and I shoot fob 5s all the time
