aaronpigeonplucker 32
well i have set my snares on a small permission. i have been walking there for a few days before and it is teeming with rabbits wich will let you get within 10 yards of them before they bolt!!! (too bad he won't let m shoot on the permission ). i am going to come back at 7.30pm to see if i have got any. i have 7 peg snares (wich were from old trap collector for seding me the snares and too woodga for showing me how to make tealers and pegs on his dvd ) and i have 2 fence snares. i hope to at least get one, but i do not go snaring often and i'm not great at it. i'll update this evening. aaronpigeonplucker 32
i thought of that but i have only got a cheap rubber catty wich is not powerful enough to kill rabbits. and i didnt get a single one wich is strange cause i was setting them right in the middle of the beat and 6 1/2 inches off the ground and i saw loads of rabbits round there when i went up. do you think it would be worth inveting in a black widow catty? plummer1 0
hope you get a few mate, and remember allways rub yer hands with grass before you set your snares, so an old poacher told me anyway. Quote Link to post
ellir0305 9
if the grass is long they may be set low but you would always get a couple pulled tight. maybe you place them on old runs give it another day then move them. a good idea i going up there when the rabs are out and watching the runs they use when they see you. mark these up and set snares on them then or as soon as you can Quote Link to post
MR TEA POT 1,287
and remember allways rub yer hands with grass before you set your snares, Is this after they have been buried for 2 weeks in a sh1t pile These rabbits were all caught in brand new snares made a couple of days before and we did not rub grass over our hands when we set them The rabbits where you set your snares may not have come out far into the field, fox about or bad weather kept them in,was there any knocked?? aaronpigeonplucker 32
none opf them were knocked and when i was walking up rabbits scattered everywhere aroud where i put my snares. the graqss is very short and there are no real runs, just places that you can see like partings in the hedge and that.
