sounder79 80
hi p***y thanks for all your comments and your a very knowledgeable man on terriers its good to hear on a site like this. Just one more question to you. Did they put bull blood in to start the black terriers or was it added later on. BLACKPACK, I COULD TALK ALLDAY ABOUT THE HISTORY OF FELL, PATTERDALES ETC........ BUY I TEND TO STICK TO WHAT I KNOW AND HAVE LEARNED MYSELF AND SEEN MYSELF OVER THE YEARS, BEST TO GO BY WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN, THAN WHAT YOU HAVE HEARD IN THIS GAME, I HAVE A VERY GOOD FRIEND WHO KNOWS BRIANS SON VERY WELL, AND I KNOW A BIT ABOUT BRIAN AND HIS BREEDING. BULL BLOOD GOT A LITTLE BIT MORE POPULAR IN THE WORKING TERRIER WHEN THE LOCATOR COLLOR WAS INVENTED, YEARS AGO IT TOOK MORE THAN ONE DOG TO DIG AND HOLD GAME, BUT NOW LADS ARE DIGGING ONE HOLE AND GETTING THERE QUARRY A LOT MORE , AND A LOT OF THAT IS BECAUSE THERE USING A BIG AND STRONGER TYPE OF TERRIER THAN GUYS HAD YEARS AND YEARS AGO. p***y,you say that the terriers these days are bigger and stronger, and there is a post about big patterdales on this and some of the dogs were about 30lb weight( cant remember could be wrong).anyway my question is,could you enter one of these big dogs in one of the old game dog trials if they were still going? would they be strong enough? i dont have a clue about patterdales,so your the man to ask about this. J Darcy 5,871
Hhmmm......I have seen a good number of white terriers that were bred from black and chocolate patterdales. Yes, there must be the white gene present on both sides i have been informed. Please do not confuse a white working terrier with an albino...they arent. When is a fell a patt? When is a Patt a fell? Do we really care? The colour, to me, isnt important, its the dog behind the colour. And, some of the white blood goes way, way back to the sealyhams of old. Let's not forget them... Also, what needs to be remembered, when years ago a dog was called a russell, it was sometimes a bull russell. When mated to a black terrier these would often give a good looking coloured dog with head size and stamp...but the white gene was still there....and i'm afraid no man can tell if there is a white gene in a coloured dog by looking at it..... JMHO...JD Quote Link to post

dog fox 16
either frank buck or cyril bray like to add the bull blood ,one was for it and one was against and most bull dogs back in the day were white so i believe so its proberbly the bull, but a lot of black pats have a white flash on chest could that not be enough white to create a full white if both perents had the flash ,dont take this like im a now it all because i just dont get genetics full stop ,its just me adding to what some people have said Quote Link to post
