whip x grey 276
I had two bitches a mixture of kc and non ped blood lines, very fast, no stamina and thick as pig shit.the main reason i picked kc bred whippets to own again was i heard better things about the stamina u would get on with my uncle lol there,s no doubt the working & k,c whippets have big heart,s i,e deep chest for the longer run but ive seen k,c whippet fall at the way side on bend track,s against non peds,,,,race after race non ped has to race till jobs done that day,,where as ped,s and even greys wont be sent round track as many time,s,,,,but that would only be 300yrd tracks ,,,and non ped would have to run 4 times somtimes 5 times if there,s dead heat or disqulified race,,,and still do near same times as 1st race,,,( ive never seen ped do that or as many races on bends,,and a grey are normally there to do one thing,,there race then home,,somtimes gets sent round twice when trailing, but iam sure would do more if sent round more as for thickness in dog,s i cant argue ,,as i have seen smart whippets in all types,,,but ive also seen dumb as sh@t also,,,,,i would say non ped,s are more dumber when younger as there over keen,,,,my white parti in signature is as smart as they come,,always 2 steps ahead of me in house,,smart enough to know the diffrence to know racing 110% all out, then slow down abit when chasing rabbits i,e wait for the right momment for the strike,,but he,s 4yearold comes with age and experence my fawn one ,,,what can i say prey drive thru the roof ,,,but smart with it,,,but still alot to learn just 2yearold iam going to a ped club 2mmorow ,,to run dogs,,,if weather,s good ,,,and there,s dumb ones there too,,,,but my main worry with them is ive noticed over the year they have no guts,,,,but having said that they are good uns,,,there,s no doubt about that if iam honest if i was after a working whippet and a whippet to race at lurcher meeting also ,,, i could turn back time a few years lol,,,,i would cross sootysam x country music,,,but i think both whippet s were dog,s,,,,but i can dream lol Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
great but i dont want to chase plastic bags and get my dogs slipped by a c**t in a red coat. if it cant lamp or snatch up rabbits pushed out by the terriers then it aint any good to me, no matter how its bred Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
Just going on wat i have seen over the years i would go for the peddigre for out and out rabbiting ie working with bushing dogs but if i wanted one for a bit of racing as well i would go for the non ped ps biglandboy is a dog with hell of a lot of heart.atvb Quote Link to post
whip x grey 276
great but i dont want to chase plastic bags and get my dogs slipped by a c**t in a red coat.if it cant lamp or snatch up rabbits pushed out by the terriers then it aint any good to me, no matter how its bred dont want to upset u mate,,,,,but all whippets have the speed to catch rabbit,s,,,,,,,,what are u saying my dogs cant catch rabbits or hare,s or roe,,,cos they wear a colour jacket at weekend,s???? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,does a working lurcher not wear a colour collar when racing at lurcher meets ?????? ive got whippets that mainley race,,,,but have tooken rabbits,,,,( pre ban hare,s roe deer ),,,and i know a non ped,,not that big i might add thats had 3 foxes iam not slating k,c whippets,,,,,but what iam saying if i was to use one for hunting and racing at game fairs in the summer,,,i would use working x b,w,r,a type,,,,,,hence if sooty sam x country music was 1st crossed ..i would have one,,,,the price of those pups would have been throu the roof,,,,but it is impossible anyhow as both were dog,s but i respect ur opinion ,,,as i repect the opinion off any fellow dog men Quote Link to post

All i can say is you know what your getting with a Kc registered whippet. My bitch is a kc registered whippet (i bred her) and i'd put her along side any whippet either non ped or ped out in the field. We've been out lamping with lurchers and she's held her own run for run. and i don't mean for an hour i mean all night. Stamina isn't an issue at all with my whippet never has been. I actually delivered your fawn dog at Fleesh's the bitch had a hard time, and i had to give her an helping hand. Glad he's doing ok. Quote Link to post
