OldTrapCollector 377
Why on earth the GCWT insist on building those half tonne monstrosities for catching mink I will never know. Yes they work but they are completely unnecessary Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday wouldn't have built anything so big OTC Quote Link to post
moxy 617
OTC i agree and building a raft would be one of the last methods i would consider, However, everybody has a tale to tell. As this is on my doorstep, i see it as an information gathering exercise, tit for tat and i am sure opinions will be aired You never know i may learn something. Quote Link to post

Yes they work but they are completely unnecessary Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday wouldn't have built anything so big OTC well probably the same reason why i do..... as im sure you know checking traps at this time of year or any other for that matter is VERY time consuming, instead of putting out a baited cages and having to check them twice a day when there might not be any mink working that stretch, you put the rafts out with the clay pads in, if there are mink working that area they will go onto the raft and leave there tell tale pad marks for you to see, these only need checking say once a week, if there is no signs of activity then move them to another stretch.. they are very keen on using them as markers with there spraints so will visit them regularly.. once the signs are seen, swap the pads for your cage and await the sucsess..... its saved me hours and hours every week..
