plummer1 0
got a phone call from a mate who put me on to a local guy selling patterdale x jrt pups. just off the phone to him and set up a meeting to veiw them tommorow, hopefully be reserving a wee bitch. my question is " has anyone on the forum got or had a pat x jrt? and if so how do they do?" POSSUM 13
i'm assuming nobody has any of these dogs then. cheers anyway. SURELY WORTH A TRY IN THE FIELD MATE..ARE THE PARENTS BOTH WORKERS?? Quote Link to post
Rainmaker 7
On the whole JRT x Patt, JRT x JRT, Patt x Patt etc isn't as important as worker x worker. You get out what you put in. Look at the parents; the apple rarely falls far from the tree. Quote Link to post

markdog 18
A good working russell put to a good working patt, bred out of generations of workers, and you should be ok, as much chance as any. i have a two yr old patt*parson russell he is keen as mustard but a little bit vocal above ground, really yappy its been suggested this is due to russell my pure patterdales will sit teathered up trembling with excitement ready for their turn to work but he yaps and whines. brilliant worker but he dont half wind me up. Guest MickyB
ther as good as you train them....... ;) you talk complete drivvel dude.... your last post said you wouldnt touch fox as they are full of disease ffs Mate, for an earthdog, like has already been said, as long as the breeding is there you have as much chance as any unrelated terrier breeding, ive got experience with this cross, and I can honestly say that one of the very best digging dogs ive ever seen working was a JRT/Patt bitch bred from top digging stuff both sides. She will find anywhere, and stay until dug to, no matter what... well every terrier should do that, but she was also so fast at finding, as she is small and supple, no messing about, and never getting badly punished, yet always up close and personal, she can be dug to almost daily through the season out with the hounds as well as free-lance pest control, an awesome bitch by any standards. Breeding is everything for me, but im guessing your not an out and out digging man, so perhaps you have different standards to me. Quote Link to post
mouse 282
got 2 patt x russels and both do there job.one is a small thing that can get anywhere and the other will work anything below.if its worker to worker then it dont matter what the cross is in my opinion. Quote Link to post
