j4mesmac 5
Just been looking through a whole bunch of photos recently of past hunting days...dont do much just now due to work committments but am hoping to get back in the saddle in the near future. Used to take alot of deer with what i had at the time which was a 5/8ths grey 3/8ths bull which knocked them over with ease...just tested on roe. Would like to know what you guys/gals would consider the perfect deer dog to have been when times were in our favour to hunt this amazing animal? All the best jesus christ, why dont you just ask people for pictures of any roe deer caaught with dogs since the ban!!!!just get to the point stop pissing around, you will probably get some eejit posting pics anyway james Quote Link to post

bullcross1 10
depends on what deer you would be running and if you would running them from a motor or not, it doesnt take anything special to pull over the little deer, just my opinion though Quote Link to post

lurcherchris 5
With roe I don't think that size matters too much my mates dog is 23/24 inches to the shoulder, a real tiny little dog no bull in it and brings them down no probs. it all depends on how the dog works them i think. His one has a good pace of speed and stamina and keeps pressuring the deer then flips them and they don't get back up once he has hold. This is on roe i'll say but would obviously struggle on a larger species. However all we have is roe in our area so no need to worry bout that. I can see where people might prefer the bull crosses having the strength to do it a bit quicker an all that, i,m just saying what i have found. I'm not bad mouthing the bull cross. at the end of the day it is horses for courses and what everever you find works best for you Quote Link to post

mattyg 1,862
never really into the deer, but id go for a well bred deer/grey, should be able to cope with most situations i should think! Quote Link to post
