john b 38
I came across this the other day, and it's a rare find. It's an example of the FENN Venus trap that was brought out and almost immediately recalled after MAFF advised that it might not be legal. I've stuck it on ebay on behalf of the old boy who's shed it was in - see if I can get him a good price for it. But I thought it was worth posting a few pics on here just in case any of you see another one

Guest MickyB
its a clap trap type..... Lewis, like it says in the title its a magpie trap, but could be used on a variety of winged vermin the bait is laid in the bottom and when the bird perches on the mesh in the middle thew trap goes 'clap'

Holdaway 2
It's a shame that they are illegal, they and other similar ones are great traps. I think a soft mesh version should still be legal. (Only cause I made one...) H
OldTrapCollector 377
They fell into the 'spring traps for birds' category which was outlawed in 1904 OTC
IanB 0
The americans use similar traps on a larger scale for large animals like beaver, etc for catch and release...
