DIGZY 4 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Share Posted May 31, 2009 Im not a traveller but iv got to say i love Appleby fair, had some great days and nights up there since me and friends could drive at 17 and got ourselves over there . We just used to soak up what was going on , have a few beers and sleep on the banksides near the church-cricket pitch if the weather was good, otherwise in the back of the van. One year we parked alongside some travellers in the smaller field on the Hill had some good crack a pot of tea then a look around the next day. I always get there for at least the day, i did the market a couple of year ago. IMO a Great British and A Gypsy Tradition that Hopefully will go on forever. Imo the forces that be would have it banned tommorow and they know knife-gun crime would be the way to get rid of it. I hope people dont go down this route and get it stopped. Here's to a GREAT fair well said mush i tell you now if they ever tryed to stop appleby there would be a war and all the fighting that you hear about on appleby are all family wars they dont effect you unless youre involved in it someway Quote Link to post Share on other sites
