Regularly used at 1000yd shoots in the States. Ric Quote Link to post
salukiwhippet 6
.22hornet for me, I can shoot bunnies and still eat em, foxes out to 200yards, and it's capable on small deer (roe size) on the continent. Plus cheap to shoot, quiet and no recoil. Perfick! James Quote Link to post
RicW 67
Perish the thought but if we were to be limited to one gun in any one calibre what would you settle for? Not the maker, the calibre. I reckon I'd go for .220 Swift but then I'm a mad old . . . person!Ric Looks like the votes are all in. Thanks to all who replied, even the silly boogers. (no names no pack drill but you know who you are!). Results to date:- .50 BMG, Lapua .338, .220 Swift, .17 Rem, .17 HMR, .22-250, 6.5x55, 30-06, .260 Rem, .222, .22 Hornet............................1 vote each 6mmPPC..............................2 votes .223.....................................3 votes .22 LR..................................4 votes .243.....................................6 votes Makes the .243 clear winner, I'say. Personally, I'm a bit surprised. I expected the .223 to come out on top. Still, if you lump the other .22 CFs with the .223 they beat the .243 by 7 - 6 P'raps I should have included shotguns! I don't use one, but I can see a lot to be said for a 12b double. Shoot for the pot, vermin, and keep them pesky clay pigeons under control - can't be bad. Once more, thanks to all. Score as of now is :- .243 Winchester Wanderers 7 .22 Centrefire United 7 Will we see a final vote to decide the match? Or will it go to a penalty shoot-out? I for one DON'T want to be in goal! Ric! Quote Link to post

RicW 67
223 mate good tool cheap to run with good results . One more for .223 and one for .22-250 puts .22 Centrefire United into a clear lead. (9 - 7) It's all been fun and it's clear that my best choice for a CF will be a .223. Quote Link to post
cyclonebri1 8
Guys, this post needs returning to basics. Yes a 1.199 calibre will kill anything on the planet??? The question should be; What is the minimum calibre you would chose to hunt anything?? It has to be the .22 rimfire, killed everything, up to and including elephants Arguments? ? ? Quote Link to post

Sorry CB but you've missed the point. When I started this thread I asked people to say what calibre they would settle for if they could have just one gun. Most respondents have said either .22 CF or .243. No offence bruv but if you want to argue for .22lr start a new thread! Quote Link to post
