Stable rabbits

Recommended Posts

Right well Iv had this permission for a while for ferreting and its about 20-30 acres of fields for horses at the stables near the bottom of my road. There is only one warren on the entire place which is right next to a road and is a major pain in the arse to get to as netting it is the height of impossible. I havent been there in a while as it wasnt a serious job just something to do in my spare time (as I have other jobs to do else where) Ive recently noticed that the rabbots there are on the increase so I thought I'd ask what they thought if I was to trap/snare the rabbits. What would be the best to do? There is horses in most of the fields but they are always moved around and the land is between a road and a railway. I thought that snaring the fence line along the fence nearer the railway would be ideal as there are no horses on that side (but there's foxes) and possibly putting some traps in the gorse (there is ALOT of that and thats where they stay in the cover not underground) Im sure the owner wont mind as long as they are dealt with.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

if there are foxes there you may end up with a few bodyless bunnies. have you looked at long netting, presuming the horses are put away at night. also have would one of those drop boxes do the job, as long as the horses are not near it i think that would be you best option

I imagine the horses are taken in. and to be honest a few bodyless bunnies aint a big deal as long as they're gone I thinl is her main concern. I dont have a gun at the moment so thats not possible. I was thinking drop box and snares (possibly a few fenns mk6 in the difficult warren?)

Cheers
