simonbilly14 0
Went out last night on the golf course lamping it was hammering it down with rain, wind nice and strong and quite a few rabbits sat out. I went out with my best dog Saluki x Grey, i'm trying to keep her fit for next season, she usually has a 50% strike rate (she only 12 month but coming on great) I had 8 good runs but the rabbits were rocket fueled!! i've never seen rabbits move quite like it. I know it's perfect ground for them on the golf course but it is for my dog too. it safe to say i came back empty handed I've notice this before on the same ground and simmilar conditions that some nights the rabbits are lightening fast and some nights the seem to be in slow motion even the bucks. Anybody else noticed this? what u recon it could be? Quote Link to post
Sully 3
Probably fit as a butchers dog mate, good strong healthy rabbits matey, better than picking a shed load of mixid rabbits, also real test for the dog, every kill, is a work of art ! Quote Link to post
john rust 45
Got the same on a golf course over here, the rabbits seem to have fecking engines. Was out about 4weeks back and even the younguns are like greased sh## . ATB John Quote Link to post
Malt 379
The bucks are fit as fiddles with all the shagging they're doing at the minute! They'll start slowing down towards the end of the summer when it takes it toll! Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
Golf courses are nightmares for running rabbits. You have everything in the rabbits favour and it's slim pickings at times. First time I ran them on there was with Match's dog Finn and we had a great night...few bunnies, few ducks....going back a bit now though Quote Link to post
farmer 1 0
i find golf courses and turf feilds are hard work for dogs too run they seem too over shoot or strugle to turn . Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
no easy running on golf courses with golfers walking up and down it all day the ground is usually compact and the grass short not ideal running conditions seen a few clever type dogs sickend on them.atvb Quote Link to post
lucky 578
you'd run faster if you knew your kids lifes depended on you getting home..... Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
you'd run faster if you knew your kids lifes depended on you getting home..... I dunno...a huge dog towering above me would make me move pretty sharpish with out the littlens. Quote Link to post

coursing_lad 45
arghh the golf course , the start of many upon many of lurcher / ferreting peoples careers , make no mistake , the golf course is not always an easy place to work , sometimes you can account up to a certain amount of people who work them and maybe sometimes bump into people whilst your out , because permission is so hard to come by , people tend to work golf courses because its easier than getting scatterd accross a farm by a 4x4 / quad ect , therfore the rabbits tend to no the score quite quickly , sometimes its a great test for a dog to run on them , just keep at it CL Quote Link to post
pritch 335
golf courses are tuff at the best of times & worse when wet the short grass dont give the dog much to grip when turning so they tend to overshoot more. know a few dogs that have come to grief on them to. ATB Pritch Quote Link to post
Edd_Wiltshire 9
Yeah fair play, i have noticed some turbocharged bunnies around my way as well!
