Birdboy 2
Hi all, Was out yesterday evening checking on the foals, and in the field next to us were about 100 common gulls, saw what I thought was a crow put them up and then strike at one from underneath and carry it to the ground. First thought was that it might have been a goshawk, as i've seen them hunting in a similar way on an estate I use to work on. I could see where they'd landed so decided to creep down there and see what it was, after crawling for about 100 yds on all fours I managed to see through the hedge a large female peregrine already tucking into the gull. Managed to get away without disturbing the bird. Just wondered how many people have seen a wild peregrine have a succesful hunt in the wild?? Cheers, BB Quote Link to post
macberran 2
Saw a similar thing in Argyle 4yrs back.Hit them as they were down though a big explosion then it carried the gull off, barely clearing the water as it flew with its catch over a 100 yd stretch too land on the opposite foreshore for its breakie. Spectacular it was. Quote Link to post
