max abell 196 Posted May 14, 2009 Report Share Posted May 14, 2009 Just finished reading one of the late great brian plummers books And he quotes in it that he did on occasions give his ferrets fresh caught rats I do have access to rats that we catch in fen traps but i havant and NEVER would think of feeding the horrible bloody things to my ferrets Brian plummer as im sure you know was one of the leading faces on ferrets and terriers as was fred j taylor and few others We personaly would never feed rats to the ferrets was wondering does anyone on this site feed rat and if so do they like it and do you chop the scaley tales off em etc would be very interested to know peoples views on this !! Maria_ferrets 0 Posted May 14, 2009 Report Share Posted May 14, 2009 (edited) I feed my ferrets rats and mice, but not wild ones. I would be fearful to do so due to the things that they eat. The ones I use are raised for snake food locally. The ferrets (all except for the picky Weezer) love rats and mice. I feed them whole, fur, guts and tail intact. 123pruce 0 Posted May 15, 2009 Report Share Posted May 15, 2009 I feed my two hobs rats that i buy frozen as snake food. They get a rat once a week as a treat (when its de-frosted). they only leave the feet and tail. Iv had no problems so far. Quote Link to post
