I had my first dig when i was 12,and i loved every dig after it,and i got to be truthful i dug hell of alot the following years and still digging too this day now,the foxes that bolted and missed i said to myself i got to get a lurcher which i did, after that i didn't miss much what ever bolted, then i got into hounds,it was an eye opener, hounds were running foxes to ground as many as 3 a day,i had finished with the lurchers then as i didn't think i was beening fair with them, but other boys were useing they're lurchers on the bolt and i seen some good runs and kills, and also some good digs with the terriers,in my eyes all the dogs that were out that day had work,But there is not a better sight than seeing a pack of hounds putting they're fox to ground, going of a bolt catching they're fox half way down a bank, and seeing the terrier coming out the same hole and joining the hounds on a rag, that terrier had done his job chasing him around, just as much as if he had been dug to,lets not kid ourselves we have all had terriers running around an earth for 2 hours wondering what the hell going on,and the fox has bolted and we have missed him, there not many earths in my country that you would have a 2 hour dig too,and if you were truthful as much as you love terrier work you would agree, for those of you that have not witnessed this,it is a memory that you will never for get, seeing working dogs working together-- atb old dog

today we had a fox in a old tip sort of thing it was meters down and across of chicken wire and fencing and barbed wire mixed in with concrete blokes tree roots pieces of steal and other things my terrier had the fox in there for a good hour but i managed to call him off once after 30 minutes where we wiated and nothing bolted and then i put him down agian and the fox eventually bolted after that, there was no way you could get to him, we tryed, impossible, and the dog had it most of the time he was down lugged up hard on its a#s as he only had half a dozen marks or so, any way what would you blokes with terriers that never let go and are always dug to do?

p.s. it was a suprise to find we were pushing cover

love a bolt on a hunting day just for the hounds after they have done there work but you cannot beat the buz of a dig when the little dog is grafting away and you break through.
