Sterry 0
right, i'm going to be driving in the next few months, and i'll still be 17. A friend has brought a suzuki SJ and kitted it out for lamping and off roading, so the idea was that i take him round my permissions lamping with the air rifles, now, my understanding is that we wouldnt be able to do this as we are both under 18. however, i am an scg and have shotguns so would i be able to take the old .410 3 shot bolt instead? as it 17 to have a shotgun. If this is the case, i know the law is the law and i wouldnt dare break it ( i love shooting to much) but thats awfully illogical to me. Quote Link to post
aaronpigeonplucker 32
you can have a shotgun (providing you have a SGC) from as low as age as 12 but you need to be accompenied by an adult. i dont know what age you can start shooting without the supervison of an adult. i think its 16 or 18. Thats incorrect You can lamp with the shotgun on your permission at 17 Sterry, but you cannot use the Air rifles because of the Violent Crime Reduction Act.. It is illogical in some ways but people who own shotguns are vetted more than those who walk into a shop to buy a 12ft/lbs air rifle. Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
thats a bummer, i take it lamping with a unsilenced .410 isnt as effective as with a silenced pcp? and does it work??? I wouldnt mind if they introduced vetting for air rifles, in fact think it would do the sport good. Quote Link to post

So do I but I know a lot of people are not in favour of regulation A .410 can be a great little gun for lamping at night, you probably wont have as many opportunities as with the silenced PCP but 2 1/2" .410s will be fun Quote Link to post

rebell 0
last time i asked a few loocal coppers they said its fine to shoot whenever you want on private land so long as your over 10 however you have to be accompianed by somebody over the age of 21 when walking to the land or in any public place. thought this was just ridiculusly stupid and should be changed. cheers chris Quote Link to post
