Guest jade19 Posted May 12, 2009 Report Share Posted May 12, 2009 hi we have a bitch who gave birth on saterday to 5 pups one as dead we have since lost 2 and one doesnt look good the bitch doesnt seem to be eating and anything she does eat she brings back up [bANNED TEXT] away the last pup to die had diareeha and was vomiting the only pup showing any good signs is the male he is still trying to feed etc any advice or that she is going to vet at tea time but i dont drive so having to wait for a lift its heart breaking Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Guest jade19 Posted May 12, 2009 Report Share Posted May 12, 2009 she is going to the vet as soon as i get a lift down he has been contacted already , iv been trying to hand feed them but most are still not making it im down to two and at that i think the bitch will be dead bye the time i can get to the vet its disapointing she was doing so well and the pups were all healthy and fat when they were born to have lost 3 already it just makes you wonder whats the point . Guest jade19 Posted May 13, 2009 Report Share Posted May 13, 2009 it wasnt the fact we dont have money it was the fact our vets is a 40 minute drive away and i didnt have any money or bank card at the time , we got the bitch and pups to the vet and the vet said there wasnt much wrong with her its normal to be loose after having pups and that with not eating properly to start with she wasnt keeping everything down he just gave her a jag to rehidrate her a bit and sent us home ? said that the pups sounded to have had fade and it was the pups wernt going to the mum not the other way round we took the only bitch left in and were feeding her and keeping her warm etc and she just passed away when we were feeding her at night last night one min she was fine next she wasnt we have one pup left the wee dog pup and he is still fighting hard feeding from the bitch she is now eating and keeping it down and pup seems happy and fine diffrence with him and the others is he has always followed the bitch where as the others didnt seem intrested . they could have had a bug or something im not sure but we just have our fingers crossed this little guy makes it as kris said he has a better chance with the mother than if we are trying to feed him he doesnt take a feed to well of us and aslong as he is feeding like he is the now there shouldnt be a problem iv never seen pups before so had no idea what to do if i had been at work it wouldnt have made a diff anyway but i have the week of the bitch seems happy and alert and she is cleaning the pup and feeding him just have to give her plent and get her built back up. jay Quote Link to post Share on other sites
ferret15 0 Posted May 13, 2009 Report Share Posted May 13, 2009 glad the dogs OK just my opinion but i would never leave a bitch and pups alone with someone who doesn't know what they are doing (not an attack on you) you said yourself you have never seen pups before. if this seems a impractical than the bitch should not of been breed from i hope everything else goes smoothly. nobody except you said you didn't have money, i only suggested you ask someone in your street for a lift as you were convinced they were dying front of you. if it had been my dog i would of been knocking on every door in the street till someone helped me. good luck Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Guest jade19 Posted May 13, 2009 Report Share Posted May 13, 2009 at the end of the day the pups were 4 days old no one can guarantee 24 hour around the clock supervision the bitch is fead 3 times a day and checked apon regularly what does everyone else do when there dog has pups take 3 weeks of work till there eyes open ? the pups and mother seemed fine when i left them with jade she was feeding them etc and they were all warm and moving the vet couldnt find anything wrong with mother or the still fighting pup so god knows what happend just disapointing as she was only put into pup so i could keep a bitch back for myself she is 5 and a half so would be the only litter i ever took from her if this little guy makes it fingers crossed as he is fighting away then he will be staying put but that seems a long way of the now .
