SharpShooter14 0
Another vote for the ASE Ultra. SAK are exactly that, a sack of sh*t. You could pick up an ASE Ultra for less than £120, I think I got mine for £. Edited May 12, 2009 by SharpShooter14 Quote Link to post

SharpShooter14 0
Yes deffinetly... its ALOT better than the SAK. Especially if you are shooting near stables like I do then noise restriction is really important. Quote Link to post
andyf 144
I have a 16" carbine CZ452 American 17HMR, I had a SAK on mine at first because I already had a spare one in 'the cupboard', but as I had a slot on my FAC for a Moddy for the 17, I bought a Wildcat Whisper in the 17 calibre specific, it cost me £120 at the CLA gamefair last year (from Gunshop Rugby stand). So is it any good? Well, it's vey well made, only adds about 2" to length of the rifle, because it's an over the barrel type. However I can't tell any difference at all from the SAK in terms of noise reduction! There is of course definitely an improvement as compared with no moderator at all, but the high pitched 'crack' from the bullet is always present. So the Wildcat is super nice in terms of looks, feel and is fully stripable without tools, but I can't really say its worth the cost of four SAK's. Anyway, my experience has suprised me to the extent that high velocity cracks from both .22 and .17 rifle bullets do not seem to bother the birds and bees around here too much anyway? The noise 'dissappears' very quickly, and unlike the boom of a shotgun or centrefire rifle which reverberates all around the parish, the ground returns 'to normal' within a couple of minutes anyway. I am begining to think its us 'the humans' who appreciate the moderator's effect the most. What do you think? Andy F. Quote Link to post
