SportingShooter 0
Relatively common, certainly not a rarity in terms of protected species. There used to be one or two around the shoot here but seem to have disappeared, they are released on Pheasant shoots as a discipline to the Guns. There is a forfeit for shooting a white Pheasant, it can be in the form of a bottle of Whiskey in the pub afterwards to a considerable sum of money. I prefer to let them go than shoot them if rough shooting, just a different thing to see around Quote Link to post

postiepaul 0
I remember reading that a few white ones would sometimes be releasd with the reared birds. The keepers would look out for them every day. If one day they were gone then it was a sign that predators or poachers might be about. Quote Link to post

OldNog 432
just to hatch plenty of them when i was keepering, but when they got older, they had to get separated from the other poults because they used to get pecked constantly. Used to have a pen full of white cocks and hens, and others with different cocks hens ect with a white cock or white hens to get different colours. I think plenty of shoots have them about but not in huge numbers Quote Link to post
