Guest MickyB
I have fed my dogs on a varied diet consisting mainly of raw meat/bone, and other offcuts and fat from a wide range of game which I get myself from work, rabbits are year round for my dogs, and I gut and freeze mine, i also have gluts of venison and game in season, of which the dogs get a good share.. I also get free stuff from local butchers including offcuts, lamb rib and neck meaty bones, poultry carcasses, fat etc.. all of it is fed RAW, only the rabbits are frozen first as they usually contain worms or worm cysts, but its advisable to keep regular with worming anyway. I often add cooked veg to the diet, and they all get cod liver oil three times a week. Only hard working dogs will do for me, they need to go all day -and then some, and I can honestly say that on this diet their stamina and well being is tip top. sandymere 8,263
If feeding pups is new to you I'd go for a good quality puppy food, you can add meat, veg etc in small amounts as variety will give a broad spectrum of nutrients but using the complete will give good results without worrying that you will over or underfed any basic building blocks. Once you are a little more experienced then make up your own feeds to include a wide variety of nutrients from raw and cooked meat and vegtables with a good quality carb source either with or without a complete feed as a base. good luck s
