Most likely a mink or maybe a stoat Julia, this is a bit beyond the scope of a little weasel IMO OTC

ferreter1 1
put a mink trap down and just put a bit of rabbit in for bait
Rolfe 2
I would think the culprit is a bitch mink.......probably with a load of kits somewhere. Can you tell me where the birds were killed.....IE bite to the neck, back of skull etc? If it is a mink, then a couple of cage traps may be the answer as stated. Is she anywhere near a watercourse of any sorts? Rolfe.

Or are they dragged into corners of the pen?? Did she see the culprit?? OTC

Rolfe 2
Yes i am beginning to think fox.........certainly no mink would "Break" necks.........badly bitten yes, and the base of the skull eaten away. Were the hens free range? would a fox have been able to get them......IE not locked in a shed of some sort. A fox would certainly kill far more than it required.......i have seen the result of such a killing frenzy many times. Rolfe.
