one4thepot 0
I would like to know what the average lurcher enthusiast thinks about working Bedlington Terriers. #1: Can a Bedlington be used for lamping? #2: Can they manage to leap a barbed wire fence? #3: Do they make good ferreting dogs, able to pick up the odd bolter? #4: Are they too big for bushing, also, do there coats get knotted up in the brambles? #5: And finally, would you, as lurcher men own a Bedlington for the purpose of hunting, & not just for breeding Whippet crosses? My Grandfather kept a Bedlington when I was a young lad, & I remember it to be mustard on the rats around his chicken sheds, unfortunatly this is where my experience with Bedlingtons ends. Any & all views appreciated. Quote Link to post
Sighthound 49
1) not really, you might get an odd one 2) maybe not 'leap' but will get over 3) Yes 4)No, good bushing dogs, yes the coat is a problem if not kept tight, 5) No - had two over the years, both never made the grade. Still like then though. Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Maybe this thread would have been better in the terrier section. There's a few lads there that use beddys as they were meant to be used. Quote Link to post
Guest fence_hopper
what astupid thread..pure bedlington used as a lurcher, there are a few on here breeding good beddys for earth work, which i think more people should be doing, as that what beddys should be earth dogs. not lamping ferreting ect Quote Link to post

I am looking to have one or two versatile dogs, not a pack of four or five dogs consisting of a couple of lurchers & two or three terriers. Quote Link to post
