mick20 23
I know there are many ferreters who make their own purse nets and each has their preferred methods and materials. My question is how long, from starting to load the needle to finishing the last knot, does it take to make a net. Lets go for a net three feet long and 16 meshes wide. Quote Link to post

I dont time myself but maybe half a hour after ive started them Quote Link to post
mick20 23
Hi Max, i tend to do them a bit at a time mainly after having the dog out for a walk, that way it stops me getting bored. I was taught how to make them about thirty years ago but didn't really do many, it was easier buying them. Decided a month ago that i would make some for season coming and although starting and finishing took some effort and practice i found that making the body of the net was easy. Hi 'The One' I timed myself earlier this week and from first starting to put the hemp on the needle to cutting it at the finish it took me 1 hour to get a 3' net so respect to you at half that time (will have to practice harder). Also mick there is different materials to knit with now like spun nylon / polyester and the usual hemp in different grades and nylon in different grades I personaly tend to use polyester but try different stuff to see what you like yourself GOOD LUCK Quote Link to post
