oak cider barrels ...

hello folks.

 

im looking forward to autumn and the apples.......well cider :icon_redface:

 

ive an orchard of apples and i am on the lookout for casks and an apple press...

 

 

im new to it so any advise will be app.

sounds a nice project ,if you ever need any sampling doing im sure me and lass could do it ,we dont drink much :angel:
ya can sample all ya need....if i get ta make a barrel or two......may even give ya one ov me pickled onions and a slice a mature....just ta have with it.. :yes:

your so kind :D ,ive never made cider before ,but ive made a few gallons of wine.If you manage to make some you will have to let me know how it turns out

If you google oak casks there's a few companys selling them but they aint cheap!

I've got a book on homebrew somewhere at home that mentions brewing in casks that points out that they can be a bit tricky to keep water(or cider) tight if I remember correctly, something about the potential fo shrinking/exapanding/warping of the wood. Overall you may be better off just buying a plastic one for a lot less cash, although the cider may not be quite so nice! :thumbs:
