the score on the perch for nesting is this year the woodies have the roost, last year was the maggies, year before some rooks tried it for while... meanwhile back at the hedge the blackies are holding firm with the long term rent agreament lolol

Kay, have you tried setting the camera up on a spot where they land, remember to keep the camera there though.. tri pod it, either use the auto to focus, take a picture of the spot then switch it to manual focus to keep the focus there, remove the card nip into the pc have a look... if its in focus pop the card back in and its ready..(turn the auto switch off off...remember to put it on manual or it'll refocus when you take the next shot). the self timer can reduce blurr a bit...because there's no press down on the camera.(remember though,if your stood and take one pic it'll probably be shake free, standing there taking 20 shots one after the other you'll start to shake a bit...same as gun shooting).

another way is to turn your f/ number up a bit to get more feild of veiw, then take a few on manual focus and focus in a bit out a bit...(more than one pic, on manual or auto and hope for a good one).

(try a few pics of the same thing on different f/ numbers, the lower the number the least in veiw, you'll see on the pc),

(but the further away you look the same f/ feild of veiw gets bigger, e.g. f/5.6 on mine at full zoom at 3 feet gives about half inch in focus, at a mile everything over there is in veiw...)

I am lucky here, put some food down and they come right in, I have bought a remote control for my camera so am hoping to get some better bird table shots of the sparrows, they are a suspicious lot and wont come near the table or the pond if i am in the garden. Every thing else does as you seen by the garden bird photos just not them. I will hide inside and get some sneaky shots with the camera on a tripod hopefully :D
