home made chrono?

is it possible to make a home made chronograph as the one at my gun shop is expensive to use.

I've tried the spud files chrono and it works OK but it's a drag carrying out the pc into the garden!

the microphone I bought for £3.00. Software was freeware. seeing the time was not very clear BUT after a few tries, i could see teh "bang" and "thump" everytime.

For interest, I ran a set of 10 shots which came out as an average of 11.3 ft lbs. 508fps / 19.6gr.

took the rifle and ammo to a gunsmith, he chronoed at 11.4 ftlbs. Not too shabby!

i have plans and most of the parts to build one somewhere in the house but i abandoned the project as it involved winding a copper wire onto the end of a tube after each shot

What he said. I got one of these cheap off that auction site, brand new and its had no end of use already on both my guns & friends guns.
