Have you put fresh batteries and then tried it?Batteries usually the first thing to check out especially if they've been left in for a while, you should take them out when not in use as they drain. You could try pm Matulkoh as he has used this setp for a few years he may know the symptons and causes, atb,

GTG why not ask me? nothing electrical should be stored with the batteries in it? there is always a risk of them leaking. The box and the transmitter should be stored , after being air dried, with the batteries taken out. It says it in the instructions.

I'm not an electrician but it sounds like it shorting?

either way there is a 5 year warranty on the transmitter, you can return it for a new one and if you can't live with it i'll refund your money no worries, give me a shout on monday evening on the phone if you like and i'll sort it out with you.

wich is a fair answer bryan as i would of thought if the instructions state that batterys must be removed [bANNED TEXT] in storage then surley the warranty would be void

No, it should work i reckon, anyway (GTG is a sound enough guy )when in doubt , BLAME THE GERMANS

GTG doesn't mind me saying he had used an A23 size battery which is 12 volts, it's the very same length as the proper battery, might have just been the shop gave him the wrong ones.

the proper battery i a LR1 size N and only 1.5 volts, luckily the other battery seems not to have done any damage.
