Guest MickyB
Hi Spiderfly I have not owned either... but being a hill keeper in the past, and into following in field trials etc ive seen a bit of each working in the field to mark grouse and partridge on open hill... for me it would have to be the English pointer, as I like their style, they have awesome noses that work the wind and a good one will point you every covey on a stretch of hill. The Red/Irish setters seem that bit more clumbersome and gangly, some are down right bonkers aswell. Out of the setters the best workers ive seen were the English, but also the big Gordon setters are a good finder of game, and a steadier worker. What will be expected of your chosen dog in the field?
