net making

hi, i have decided to have a go at making my own purse nets and was wondering what material if any is easiest to work with for a complete beginner?? i would prefer to make spun nylon but seeing as it is my 1st time then i would prefer the easiest to work with i think

I like to knit my nets with hemp as i find it doesn't stretch the same as nylon and spun nylon, hemp is what i learned with at school, [the teacher was a ferreter]

i used spun poly to start with and i found it fine to use

Just go to poundland mate and buy a few balls of there garden twine and practice with that till your confident your happy with your knots then have a think about what you want and buy it ,no sense in buying a dear spool for practicing with mate

I have been using what I think is butchers string, or rayon?? good stuff

good ideas, i never even thought of trying with cheapo stuff 1st!!!! il buy a kit with a dvd then have a few goes with twine.

Spun nylon is easiest to work with. As others have said, start off with cheap string until you get the hang of it.

cheap. I got mine for a quid a roll. It's the big rolls too. Got enough to last for ages. Only thing is it gets to heavy for long nets.
