Hi just wondered if anyone had a hob vasectomised lately and could give a rough idea of costs? Is it a procedure any vet practice will carry out or are you best of going to somewhere that specialises in this sort of thing? I intend to breed my hob and jill when she comes season, to keep a Jill for myself and I’d have homes for any spare. Then I think I’d like to have him done and let them have run of a court together all year round. Just to add, if anyone has had one done or knew of a vets they’d recommend for doing it in the north east please let me know. Many Thank

Hi guys, so I have two ferret one hob and a Jill they spent some time outside in the hutch which is a two story with ox tongue and juicy meat that they would eat in the wild. And cold night indoors in their cage with run free Space to explore indoors looking for a hob to mate with my Jill early next year. My kits are related so thinking, despite reading all the information about brother and sister likely being okay to mate ? Would anyone like to breed with my Jill, who is very healthy and socialised? . I live Buxton Derbyshire, I am going to get my hob vas

Is it necessary for ferrets to have there injections I have 3 and it’s going to cost me 160 pound for the first course and then I have to pay another 160 for a second. I don’t work them I just have them for when I kill pigeons and rabbits so the kill doesn’t go to waste.

I’ve got a 8 week old male ferret and I’m going to have him castrated, will he be allowed to be in my cage with my hob who’s intact. It’s a big cage and there’s a Jill in there too. If I can’t keep him in there will he be able to stay in there for a while until I get a new cage

Evening all, this year I am finally in a position to be able to get my own ferrets. as you can imagine I have a couple of questions. Although I have been/done ferreting in the past (although not recently) I am no expert. 1st off when’s best to buy ferret kits. I believe the summer time is best from what I remember but in between which months, if there is “set months” 2nd is there anyone in Kent on here who breeds ferrets to sell on? also any other tips when getting my first couple of ferrets would be much appreciated. Ta. Adam.

I put my gill with a hob on the 22 of March and she was with him for 7 days with swollen vagina, she’s in her own cage now and she’s hiding food and when I go to get it because I don’t want it to rot she bites my hand and fingers, her vulva has also shrunk and gone all wrinkly, sometimes she makes a small nest but then she just burrows under neath the paper I have in there. Is she pregnant?? It’s been 13 days since I put her with the hob

I have a male and female that I want to breed, the thing is the male is much smaller than the female, when I see him trying to mount her his penis is basically hitting her back and she just throws him off. How long should I let him continue to try and get her pregnant until I need to have her taken to get a Jill jab because I know leaving her in season is bad for her health

I've got 8 kits free to a good home. All of the people who wanted some from my litter have backed out. 4 silver and 4 white hobs. The mother has been a cracking little worker this past year, can't say much for her line as she was given to my mate as a freebie. The father was the best worker I've ever had and I've had his line since his great grandfather. I'd love to keep em all but definitely far too many! 9 weeks old, eating anything I catch. Free to a good home. If anyone is interested give me a message. Im in the gateshead area. I'll upload pics tomorrow

I lined my mates jill this season with my hob, and before the kits were born a lurcher got a hold of him and he had to be put down. I got the brother of the jill as a replacement to work with. The kits are ready to come home to me now, and i was wondering whether it would be ok to put them with the hob eventually. Ive got a big set up for them and a smaller hutch to put the hob in for the time being so they can get used to the smell of each other but eventually i want them all together. How old will the kits have to be before i put them in with him? They are currently 9 weeks. Cheers

Hiya peeps, I had a hob vasectomised mid February, he's mated 2 jills at the start if this month so now it's just a waiting game to see if he's firing blanks or if the jills will have kits. Obviously I'm hoping the op was successful because I don't like breeding more than 2 litters at a time and I've already got 2 jills that might be pregnant, too early to tell yet as they've only just been mated.

I have two jills (sisters) which are housed together in a large cage, and they have not been separated since they were born 3 years ago. I would like to breed from one of them, but not both as I only have homes for 3-4 kits. I only have the one cage which is a large two-storey affair, so I guess I could simply block-off the chute which connects the two levels and add a sleeping box to the lower level, effectively making it in to 2 cages. Is this really necessary though? I'm wondering if the jill which isn't mated will become a kind of foster mother if they are put back together after matin

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advise regarding my hobs; I've had them about 5 years and they've lived together all the time I've had them and apparently all their lives with no bother. This year i decided to buy in a pair of jills as the hobs are getting on now, especially the sandy who seems to have failed to get his winter coat this year. This makes me think that he won't be with us much longer, and wanted to get some kits out of him this coming spring as he's an excellent worker, what do you guys think, is he too old? We've predicted him to be about 7 or 8 years old, do you think he'll
