  2. Have not posted for a long time now, but there is a probing interest within the animal bloody rights group to out right ban the snaring of animals and I state within Wales though not as yet in England, how do we as a collective argue against this? I can understand the argument that traps are more use than snares, but we have to invoke the use of snares when dealing with foxes in certain predicaments, or am I mistaken, please somebody tell me whether I am right or wrong, I do not want to look as though I am misguided but the latest snares do not kill but restrain the animal which is a good thi

It was a mixed weekend with a bit of trapping/snaring/shooting/lamping/dry stone walling. Here are a few pics of the weekend Woodgas got a few more pics of the snaring and trapping. We then decded to
  9. hi there Trappers! i bought my first MRK 6 Springer trap today i have buried it in the garden for a few days to get rid of the shine and smell of the new metal but I'm looking to use this for just rabbits and i would love for the more experienced trappers for some tips and tricks like stopping soil from going under the trigger plate when you set it in a burrow. pictures would also be great Cheers and ill keep you informed if i catch anything pictures included hopefully
  10. hello there i snared my first rabbit today and i saw it all i have photos of the rabbit and the snare before after i set the snare i got out the camera to take a photo of the snare so you could all see it and all of a sudden before my very eyes a rabbit bolts straight into the hole and into my snare! such a nice sound hearing the thud of the string and wire becoming taught. we'll heres a picture of the snare a few seconds before it became rabbits killer. and heres the rabbit it caught.

  13. Morning everyone, The Friday,Saturday and Sunday just gone I was fortunate to be under the tuition of Phil(Pegandgun) from this site. Those of you that know anything about snaring and trapping know that you would be hard pushed to find anyone with more experience than this man. On the Friday I arrived at p@g place, excited but as you would expect a little nervous but was soon relaxed and having a cuppa, p@g was asking what knowledge etc I had of snaring etc and after checking my snares etc that I had in the boot it was time for the off. The areas that I was taken too were simply breath ta

  16. I went to look at a rabbit job today in some horse paddocks, there were plenty of runs through the wire fence and once the horses are removed from the paddocks i would normally be happy to fence snare, however this fence is stud netting with only 3" square holes rather than the normal sheep netting, has anyone had any experience in fence snaring this stuff?,im amazed the rabbits get through it and i am wondering if it is possible to snare or not as there is not a lot of room to leave space for the feet to pass below the loop.I would love to watch them come through in slow motion to see if they c

  19. hi just been out shooting then went into my local and we got talking to an old poacher who told us about an old trick to get rabbits! you get a few bricks and set them out side the holes then put a LOT of pepper on them so when the rabbits come in or out they have to sniff the brick first then sneeze and kill themselves or get knocked out by hitting ther heads, has anyone tried it ?
