Well I got 2 unused table clamps and a need for stability. Cant afford the new style tripods <on furlough pay>,so I thought make your own. So drill n tap m10x1.5 in the base of said bracket . Cut 2 pieces 7.5x3.5cm steel plate and fix to clamp .Drill hole and fit split pin to stop wind out in turnscrew. Then cut leather patches to fit and bond with contact adhesive, allowing 24 hours to cure and Bob's your job. Stable, free and hands free atb

While you were playing with your new rifles I went and got me a 3" hatsan ford escort 12g and to be honest I am quite impressed! I put 28, 29, 32 and 36 gram loads through it and home loads some of which were subsonic and it cycled the lot! And with no O ring present! I eventually did put an O ring on it but it was to thick and just would not allow the hammer to strike the firing pin although the action was locked. It's quite a precise fit. I later fitted a smaller section ring and now it fires. The reason for the ring despite perfect function without one is that the barreled action

Friday night thought i,d have a pre pheasant delivery fox mooch .Pardnv 007 on a Hawke Vantage 3-12x50 on top of a cz452 in,22.l/r but with CCI segs in for mr charles . Also my spanish pal wanted some bunnies for the b,b,q <his fault the weather,s gone pooh>so the segs do both ,set off about 10.30pm in squalid dirty patchy fog but i thought helps me to hide and the thermal spotter keeps mr charles in view .4 frustrating hours later old charley boy is a no show so back to the car i stomp. Suddenly a suicidal rabbit just pops up from his hole and stares at this big lump in the f

I haven't been out foxing for a good month or so, my first taster was yesterday afternoon where we went to see a farmer about a fox problem. This fox had been taking lambs regularly. He would often walk in the fields mid day around the farm with no worry or care about who was about. We arrived at around 4:30 and went for a drive while the farmer sat in the front of the L200. He pointed out where he had seen this fox not two days ago, and highlighted how bold he was as he watched him trot from the field down and disappear into the reeds and hugh bog/forestry. It was the second field, or may

For a long time now When i'm removing the tails of shot foxes i leave the tail bone still attached to charlie. I'm now looking for a good way to preserve the tails. I've tried salt but it didn't work for me. I was told ages ago about Borex but can't find it in any of the chemists I go to, most of them no longer have it on their system. I was thinking of using methylated spirit but was told by the Chemist that this probably won't work. Any ideas lads?

After a brown trouser moment with a malfunctioning moderator earlier in the day I decided to jump back on the horse and have a look round with the lamp later that evening. Fields were soaking and churned to feck by the cattle removed some weeks earlier but in the chicken field decided to try a call. Just about to back it in when some eyes appeared and charged up the hill towards me. I stopped it with a bark put the dot on its chest and 'CLICK!' - what a donut, forgot to chamber a round Charlie didn't like that one bit and skitted towards the hedge, I squeeked as loud as I could to muffle

On Saturday night i decided it was time to set off out after Charlie. The weather was just perfect, it was very dark with slight drizzle and a light breeze. It was the night after heavy rain and strong winds. Getting ready i grabbed the 222 out of the cabinet and screwed on the T8 whilst deciding which bullets to use, due to windy conditions i went with the Remington Express 50gr PSP. I grabbed a few calls, snacks and was ready for take off, when all of a sudden my girlfriend insisted she accompanied me. After what felt like 2 hours she was finally ready. When we walked outside the door it was

Hi, I've put in my FAC and got a visit tonight, he advised me to go co-terminous, so will do. This looks very promising to me getting a 17hmr am 223. I have looked at the Browning, could anyone clarify the difference between X-bolt and A-bolt?? I like the look of a Stainless barrel, but is it ideal when foxing with a lamp? Will the fox notice the whiteness of the barrel in the light? Many thanks

Recently aquired some new permission for Rabbits,Fox and Mink on a golf course in this area, but after speaking to the Director I think a rimfire may be in order as oppose to my usual ferrets and nets approach. I would drop some snares down but I live a little too far away to be able to check them reguarly enough. I want to do a good job for the guy regardless as permission is permission nowadays. So if someone fancies coming down for a reccy and let me now what they think with regards to shooting clearance it would be much appreciated. Experienced guns only and insurance is a mus

Picked up 300 acres last week in prime Bunny/Fox/Deer region. Was well happy so thought I should get out with the lamp. Night proved very productive bagging 12 bunnies and this Dog Fox, I saw his eyes about 300 yards away in the forest and called him to within yards, he would of kept running but I stopped him and the HMR the rest. Great night and will be back next week! I then walked further into the field and found this! I think Charles was after another snack!
