    Boots

Those pro boots are really good bits of kit. Spent a bit of time in Otterburn in Jan 09. 6 inches of snow on the ground but my feet were toasty thanks to these boots. The sole was the first thing to give way with them, but at that price they are cheap enough to replace...
  2. I cant send you a PM Irish Lurcher. please put my name in the hat!
  3. Order some hot dipped steel panels (make sure you can collect them/do cash on delivery). Put down a concrete pad (there is an excellent thread by one of the irish lads. Explains the size, angle of slope, gutter arrangement etc.). Get a 40gallon plastic drum, cut a hole in one end. Line with straw. Job done. And bar the concrete it is all moveable relatively easily.
  4. As per title. or empty your inbox so that I can PM you please...
  5. As Tam has said the noise issue is one for the local council via their Enviromental Health Officer. Anyone who believes that they may have any issues with the RSPCA would do a lot worse than looking at the following:http://the-shg.org/index.htm It is a page set up by a self help group of farmers and pet owners against the RSPCA. There is some legislation surrounding kennel size, but it only applies to licenced breeders, boarding kennels and greyhound kennels. There is currently no legislation I am aware of regarding the specific size of a private 'pet' kennel.
  6. Chain set up is where there are no pens. Dogs have a cabin/kennel to live in and are chained onto it with a length of chain. V popular in America, especially with game dog breeders. I would prefer to do it with my dogs, but is not really seen as socially acceptable in the UK...
  7. Sounds like the dog has a luxating patella. Here is a link to the Wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxating_patella Have a read and make your own judgements. I have an 11yr old pet terrier with it in both hind legs. She has not had any surgery for it and it doesnt seem to slow her down. Be careful when choosing a dog to line her with, as it is an inherited condition.
  8. I always like the idea of freezebranding, like they do in the US. Its illegal in the UK unfortunately, but I would like to know what the craic is in the Republic...
  9. I know f**k all about being a pest controller, there are plenty of lads on here who do, so I am sure they will give you plenty good advice. But, I do know that once you are over 18 (or in some cases 19) there is no such thing as free training. Its very expensive (I've just shelled out £200 for a 3 day course, and this is cheap). My advice would be to finish your A-levels first, then look at doing something else. Its free training, and once you have them no one can take them off you...
  10. The world would be a much better place if more people took this view...
  11. I saw them driving boar to rifles on a driven hunt in Hungary. Seemed to have good noses and weren't lacking in courage from the ones I saw. This gives an useful insight into working teckels in Europe and the US. http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=teckel
  12. When I go to my Southern Sporting Estate, I often pull an all nighter. I get £2/rabbit from a local butcher so I can often cover the cost of my petrol if I have a good night. Best night so far was 23 rabbits, 1 dog fox. I also shot two roe during the day the same trip.
  13. Nah you're not the only one. Nowt wrong with a woman with a bit of substance...
  14. There are quite a few living wild in Yorkshire already...
  15. Although not a lurcher, I have recently bought a 13month old working lines Labrador bitch. She is very well socialised and has had some basic training. I bought her from a company who specialise in training sniffer dogs for foreign law enforcement. She didn't like working in a building so was not suitable for their purposes. She was donated to them by a family with young children, who couldn't cope with her high energy levels. Unfortunately the children have meant she has some faults and is lacking manners. I hope to correct these faults and turn her into a useful deer dog (legal deer tr
  16. I agree with WILF. This is the way I would treat my working dogs. If you don't know anyone with a SGC in your area, PM me and I will put you in touch with someone...
  17. If thats what you think tommy then you obviously have not seen a good dog work badger {pre ban of course}. A good terrier wont let a badger run past it but if a badger really really wanted to get through he would! Not if the dog in front of it was bred the right way and able to up the gears when push comes to shove, its the last few min of any dig that tests a terrier, the break through, thats when they need that extra gear imo,all back in the good old days when it was all legal, will we ever see them days again or will the polliticions kill our sport forever. No we wont Donie, the cowboys
  18. first post Wonder if he's a boxer  If he is, he's got a shite guard!
  19. Get a pet duck or two. They eat slugs.
  20. Where abouts are you lurcher1? I run a few pigs. PM me your email address and I will drop you some info.
  21. First time ive seen that Waz. Thats a big hole. How deep was it? Looks like something out of a Fell and Moorland Rescue!
  22. I guess you are in a Corps then. If you are a Senior or Officer you could try the British Forces Game Shooting Association. Try Google or Arrse. I don't know how the dogs will get on with badger, but make sure you keep written records of any digs and vet treatment afterwards. On arrival back in the UK you may get some awkward questions if the dogs show signs of working badger, but as long as you can prove it was in a country where it was legal, and that the dogs were seen by a vet, then you should be OK. This is my opinion only, and is NOT legal advice. The best thing would probably to p
