  1. That's one thing I can certainly do, is back myself up.When have I actually called you a Liar? And why should I shut up when as you say ,it is FREEDOM OF SPEECH? I was taught one admirable quality, when in the wrong, just admit. If I have slated you like you have myself, then I am man enough to apologise to you. I cannot see what I have done wrong only but having a diiffering opinion.....Why not settle our differences of opinions by accepting that we have got different views on terriers? You have consistently said that I am Johhny Bluck. You also stated that in your words I am too sickly nice
  2. Hello Columbo, If you want any catalogues let me know and I will post them to you. That wouldn't be a problem. To your question about the BB books. The man wrote many good titles and the list is quite lengthy.I will post some photos when time permits. His books can be expensive if you want his 1st editions. However, one could buy later copies or reprints for example. Here are just some of his works: Down the Bright Stream, Tides Ending, Dark Estuary, The Forest of Bowland Light Railway,Recollections of a Longshore Gunner, Autumn Road to the Isles,The Little Grey Men, Mr Bumstead ,which I think
  3. My reply to 5 foot downs comments. There is actually someone on this forum who has agreed in what I have said and has the intelligence and opinion on the working aspects of terriers. The truth of the matter is, that hard dogs and their owners give the terrier-game bad press. So simple and a fact which would be shared by anybody who has been involved with good dogs. I am not for one moment pulling hard dogs down, I am not. They have their place and uses. However, like I have mentioned before I don't think it is a good idea to parade dogs with open wounds at shows to all and sundry to see....5 fo
  4. First and formost, I don't need to get into a slanging match by someone who hasn't much knowledge regarding terriers and working them underground. I can assure everyone on these forums that I have done and seen the the job first hand for more years than I can remember. For you to think that baying dogs have no place in the way that terriers work underground; you surely haven't experienced proper terrier work in the way that it should be conducted. It is totally common sense that a good baying dog will see and account for more quarry than an hard dog that is always off sick. Like I have said be
  5. Griz, another one who hasn't any facts on this forum ! FoxDropper, then I was beginning to accept that you was somekind of good person. Obviously I was wrong! I was going to send you a PM thanking you for your apology regarding your personal attack upon myself in your statement as to the regards of myself being Johnny Bluck. Another one who hasn't got any idea about someone he has never met. I noticed your personal attacks towards Wirralcountryman, who seems to me genuine nice person. FoxDropper, you are totally out of order in your assessment of myself. You mentioned about myself being

  7. Also slightly digressing. Do any of the Irish lads know if Jerry Allen is ok? I did hear something about problems with his health. I would be interested to hear from any of the hunting guys from Waterford.
  8. That was my original post about books. Asking a simple question regarding certain modern day Authors. What is so wrong about such a subject?I taught this site was to discuss about terriers and working them not to talk about who wrote the best bookUndertaker, it wasn't about who had produced the best book; but to what the lads thought about the modern day Authors and to whether they had done a disservice to the hunting. I could have quite easily wrote about catching foxes for example. Regards Lutra Lutra. P.S. All in all it is a topic about terrier discussion. I asked for simple answers an
  9. Totally agree with you Neil. However, what did annoy myself was that all the things Bert did for him as to the regards of Drabbles Badger project, then Drabble shunned Bert at a country fair because he didn't want to be seen with a terrier man who had previously got him the Badgers for his Nature reserve. What an hypocrite! Also by Drabbles own admission, he, himself played a major part in the down fall of otter hunting and the otter hunting fraternity. There's where my ignorance takes over, I didn't know that. I always presumed it was the pollution problem and the voluntary ban, end of

  11. inbox clear Thank you Foxy! I will message you later when I arrive back. Lutra Lutra....
  12. These stories you seen for yourself of just second hand yarns?. Very strange in how some people get the wrong impression about others. Also I could tell alot of other stories about hunting and following the (West Norfolk fox hounds) on many occassions. 'Not stories', ( fact) ! under certain circumstances and often being in the wrong hands.....Don't write back and say I am incorrect or biased towards black terriers because I am not, and like I said before of course there has been many good black or other coloured terriers. I just think that for an all rounder a good Russell will certainly
  13. Any guys on here ever located Woodcock with eggs? Have any guys watched the males (Roding), display flight to attract females?Could anyone tell of any of their other experiences with the birding game? Any good birdwatchers? Also if, what type of Binoculars do you use? I love the birds of all kinds. Lutra Lutra.

  15. Could I please reply to downsviews comments directed at myself in an earlier posting? If only he had read my particular post and been perhaps more observant in saying that I demanded honesty from the people who post certain topics on this forum. Never in any of my sentences have I demanded honesty from anyone. Also he stated that I was decrying, in his words, that I was in some way against terriers getting cut up or smashed up has some refer to it as. It would be utterly remarkable to think that a terrier would never get a mark or scar on it while out working. The way I look at such situations
  16. I have never met Phil but I have heard good things about him. Also years ago I did read many articles that he wrote about Lurchers and certain other subjects. Immediately you can tell that the man had considerable knowledge and expertise in what he did. I can put my hand on my heart and say that if I was after a running dog I would contact such a person. It isn't about scoring brownie points, but just being truthful........ Lutra Lutra.

  18. Marshman, you sound like a colour character to me.That has got to be a desirable quality in itself!
  19. My reply to your question Foxy, to be totally honest I have never had the interest or inclination to delve into certain titles of today; due to the simple factor that some of the so-called Authors do decidely bend the truth somewhat in order to prosper for their often inflated ego or for financial gain. Before the scathing attacks from anyone who disagrees, please ask yourself one simple question. How many of those Authors have actually done what they say they have? Wirralcountryman summed it up about the man called Plummer taking information from the guys who had undoubtedly seen more than he
  20. Foxy, is there any chance of sending you a private mail sometime please?
  21. Foxy, I sent you a private message but it came up saying you couldn't receive any messages. Sorry as I don't have much knowledge on these modern technologies.Just more used to writing in an old fashioned traditional style. Also please accept my apologies if I came across with a torrent of words. Also I haven't got a problem with the photos of dogs working, I was just viewing the situation from an Antis perspective. Well until next time goodnight to everyone. Lutra Lutra. D.R.M P.S. I am pleased the
  22. Fox Dropper, to put it in simplistic terms what is your problem? You really need help if you cannot accept a persons opinions about such a trivial subject on the terrier Books and modern day Authors.Your problem is with this 'Johnny Bluck character to whom I have never met or would wish to do so.I have read with a slight interest ,annoyance and also with added bemusement regarding your often polemic remarks about myself.I do feel quite sorry for you in the mere fact that you perhaps suffer with somekind of self-delusions! Your remarks to myself being too nice; well it is quite easy to turn in
