It is a wonderful feeling when out on your own and you get somekind of good results. I am talking about terriers here.I don't know what other people think upon here about taking just one terrier out, building a rapport, bond a special knowledge of an up and coming dog. In my opinion it is very different with an experienced dog; one is aware at the experienced dogs abilities when working you have learned through many hours of watching and getting results what an experienced dog can do. To myself, a young dog is a total somewhat different type of animal if the dog isn't one of those rare freaks

I like Steiner!

Excellent ! Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Bush Rummager, Very sorry for the delay in replying to your last post. I have heard of the Crag Martins before but I didn't pick upon the news regarding it being on the spire. We grew up with birds, but to be honest my love is terriers.I prefer the Russells but love Borders also. However, I have seen some good black and coloured terriers work over the years. However, the place we grew up at all the ground was sand and some big places and very tight are the holes. Back to the birds.I love all types especially Nightjars and Woodcock which to me seem so mystical an

teejay, Have a look at Steiner Predator as I think they are much cheaper.

Hello teejay, Do you mean Steiner scopes teejay? In my opinion I cannot see you going far wrong with the Steiner brand as the glass is superb and really well made in the process.I don't know who has told you bad reports about the Steiner brand. However, I haven't had the pleasure of using the scopes but their Binoculars are very good. The glass is excellent and very well made. The company make Binoculars and scopes for the military so they must be good. Expect to pay quite a price and top spec will cost anything from £900- £2000.No doubt if you shop around you will perhaps

Rock Guitarist, Brian May Hunting The Clean Boot.
Lutra Lutra replied to Lutra Lutra's topic in Hunting With Hounds
Totally agree Neil! I didn't go into that much, there wasn't enough about the subject. Like I said before I admired Brian May only but for his music skills and saw Queen on 2 occasions in 1986. Brian May signed me one of his books before I knew about his stance on hunting. The book was given to a friend who is in a Queen tribute band. I never finished the crap.Neil, you are correct in so many ways even with his attitude towards Farming. Was the guy once the huntsman to a certain pack in Wales. He should hang his head in shame! Well said Neil in your response.... Lutra Lutra... P.S. I am fully -
Hello to all fellow Fox Hunters, terrier men and certain other hunting enthusiasts. I just thought it a good idea to explain about one of our most active opponents regarding any type of fieldsports namely (Mr Brian May) following the 3 Counties Bloodhounds following the Clean Boot, It is a short article printed in the South Wales Evening Post.In so many words of course from Brian no animals are harmed when involved in such an enjoyable activity.I will leave the rest of the somewhat short article to our readers who care to read about such a man. Also it has been brought to my attention which

Neil, that was a very true statement about people not thinking about certain occurrences that happen when you are out by just yourself. In my opinion, not just with terrier work but any kind of hunting or the study of wildlife; that is always when unusual things happen.( You are the only witness to such events)!Over the years I have dug with lots of terrier lads, but I always worked along side my brother as he thought the same way I did. However, like many other lads on this forum will understand, it is a wonderful experience to be out alone and especially when one gets results. I had a little

To all fellow readers, could anyone help me with perhaps 3 or 4 ferrets which i'm very much in need of as my old Polecat Jill died this morning. So for over 40 years no ferrets! Anyone with a good type that is know for their tameness and working ability would be very much appreciated would really be warmly welcomed. I do know it may be something of a tall order due to the season and the further onset of some harsh weather to come; ideal of course for ferreting.I will pay a good price, and who knows maybe a good friendship could well be cemented between various parties. I will always say that

Excellent stuff!

Hello Micky, do you use the Jubys much? I have some and like you said they are somewhat of a weight to transport around. I find the Imbras a better trap.

ACCIPTER, I TOTALLY AGREE THERE HASN'T BEEN A GOOD GOSHAWK BOOK PRODUCED FOR A VERY LONG TIME. ONE HAS BEEN COMPLIED TOGETHER BUT IT ISN'T A FALCONRY BOOK, JUST A BOOK ABOUT THE GOS AND IT'S HABITAT. POYSER PRODUCE THE BOOK, AND IF YOU LIKE THE GOS I'D DEFINITELY GET IT. IT'S A VERY GOOD READ.Lutra

Neil, I could be wrong but I have been involved in keeping British Finches and Canaries for over40 years and i've never known Cock Bully mating with anything other than it;s own kind, ie, Hen Bullfinch. Does anyone know any different? My brother sat with one of his friends and helped a CanaryXBully out of the shell, due to much weakness. He saved it. That's the guy who had the white Chaffinch, an abberation. They fascinate me. We watched a nest of white Blackbirds in the nest near to one of the busy Hospitals, but couldn't get near them. I noticed a certain idiot trying get you going afew days

The books are endless and there are still some titles around which are worth collecting. Just a little advice, look after them and if needed put a protective cover over the dust jacket. To look and marvel at ones collection with tight nice condition books , most adorable. I hate to watch how certain people treat their books and other peoples which have been so kind in the first place to lend them out. Nowadays I simply don't do it. It would be ludicrous to let people read a book that is over a thousand pound or more. However, i'm always keen to help the good guys.I'm going to become a moderato

Mk Iv Fenn And Stoats.....
Lutra Lutra replied to J Darcy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Totally agree! I caught many Squirrels in the mk6 and on very, very rare occasions they have still had life in them. Every Stoat dead! They are built totally different. However, it is rather odd perhaps nearly every Mk6 has always killed Rabbits cleanly, always on the neck, head region. It's how they approach them. Took many Rabbits and Squirrels in the Imbras and have used the Fuller. -
May the great lord look over him!
-
David, that would be good of you. But to be honest don't lend your books to anyone as they never come back like the condition you let them go out as. Many people don't want books just to look at and admire, it is the sheer content material which ofcourse is the most practical issue. However, letting out a £500 book to a book that amounts only to approx £30 is something of a big difference id say.Although your books would arrive back on the stated time and in perfect condition.

Bush Rummager, never done much at Budby. However, every year at a certain place I do watch the Honey Buzzards. Budby is a nice location.Me neither to be honest. Just never seem to get around to it. We had a week away on Skye a few months back, clocked over 1300 miles. We were lucky enough to see the Sea Eagles from the Portree boat trip. All seemed a little staged to be fair! Still great to see nonetheless. But to top that, great views of a breeding pair of Golden Eagles... right out of our cottage window! Absolutely awesome! Those sights will stay with me forever.Somtimes i do kick myself for
