Anyone Exchanged Their .17Hmr For A .22 Magnum???
pothunter replied to jam1e's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
had same bother and cleaned bore with m pro 7 on a patch over night then patched it out, you then have to shoot a bit to get it back on. back on as good as new busting rabbits at near 200yards on lamp so not much wrong. -
I THINK THE FIRST SHOW I WAS EVER AT WAS TANDRAGEE ABOUT 27 OR 28 YEARS AGO.

THEM DOGS IN THE CREW VIDS WAS CRAP THEY WERE AS COLD AS FOOK AT HEDGES.

BEST SHOWS I EVER WENT TO WAS TANDRAGEE

A LURCHER IS A SIGHT HOUND CROSSED WITH ANOTHER TYPE OF DOG BUT A LOT OF THESE RACERS OR NOT LURCHERS AS WHEN 2 SIGHT HOUNDS ARE CROSSED IT IS CALLED A LONG DOG NOT A LURCHER. I THINK A LOT OF IT IS THE SHOWS OWN FAULT AS THEY PUT IN A WORKING CLASS THAT GIVES THE REST ALL DAY TO SHOW , THE ONLY DOGS IN THE FIELD NOT WORKING SHOULD BE PUPS OR A RETIRED DOG PERIOD.

.17 Best Make Model And Variant?
pothunter replied to themightybuck's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
17hmr all the way cz varmint sak mod and 3-9 x 50 bushnell scope mounted on medium mounts it will clear barrel by a few mill it wont break the bank and its as good as you will get, a real tack driver -
if your a good shot and can take the best from your rifle, then there is no comparison. simple fact its flatter and has more power. its horses for courses,i get on with the hmr great as most of my shooting the noise thing does not realy come in to it unless you are shooting rabbits at fairly close range most of my rabbits are only 1 or 2 here and there fairly well out although i have seen me shoot 8 in one field and none over 100 yards.

a .22 rim is probably good enough for most folk as they cant hit much over 100 yards. lol

Been offered a CZ hmr 22" barrel..?
pothunter replied to Wino's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
more velocity, and thats what going to hmr is all about if in doubt read als varmint site he tests them and chops the barrel we have shot both and you will see the difference on the long shots i have the long varmint and would not swap for a carbine.its a .22 thing as it reaches max velocity at 10" of barrel but with extra powder and a smaller bore you need the extra length if you want to get the max out of your gun. -
Yep good post fella, just 2 things, no beagle no matter how good unless in very tight gorse etc can hunt a line of a fox as quick as a decent foxhound, stooped head or not, As for the pop holes through netting any foxhound worth it's feed would pop over it with out thinking.. he wont pop over the hedges im talking about, he will have to go under or around tight sheep wire topped with 2-3 strands of barbed wire and ur lucky if you can see it the hedge is grew through it that heavy if he does jump his weight wont carry him down through it.

Tail docking ,what is the correct length
pothunter replied to brown trout's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
between 1/3 or 1/4 and do it with knipex cabel cutters or the like, the nipper type as it sqeezes the tail in before it cuts and then the skin grows over with the hair on and you dont get a bald tip on the tail like you do if you cut straight with a sharp blade -

Thanks for letting me know how to run Game Fairs and terrier & lurcher shows - I am only the person who launched the first sustainable Irish Game Fair in 1979 and who agreed to host one of the first major terrier & lurcher shows in 1980! Our aim is to be inclusive and encourage as many people as possible enjoy their dogs. you mean so you can enjoy their money, lets face it you wouldnt sit at a hole where theres no rat -

firstly there should be no working class at any show because that means the rest of the classes r not working--- if they are not working they should not be there unless they r pups. gamefairs r for hunting minded people not people who just like the look of a running dog r terrier r rag racing the whole thing is fooked -
the magnet in the speaker of a mobile phone can turn your collar on or off so be aware if you have terrier under your arm as a phone in a high pocket can turn a collar off
