Probably week after next mate, due to an unforseen payment with my car I'll have to wait til payday to settle up with Carl. It can't come quick enough
-
Quick update, unfortunately the carbon once fitted was touching the cylinder which is a big no no, so Carl has cut back the original shroud, ensuring that it no longer rattles. My huggett belita will now screw directly to the barrel so the Regal will appear much shorter. According to Carl the Regal is now blisteringly accurate and consistant, apprently it would go toe to toe with top end target rifles, he actually said that it was "too good" for hunting lol
-
I suspected mine was clipping so Carl's gonna be fixing it for me ?
-
No problem pianoman, does your regal have the same rattly/clipping shroud issue mine had?
-
Pianoman, below are Carl's details, in case he doesn't come back to you, I'm pretty sure Carl only checks the forums once in a blue moon lol http://www.airtechrifles.co.uk/ airtech.rifles@yahoo.co.uk Carl Garbett: 07778295542 Andy

Thanks Mac, I only got a small pot of tru oil, I'll look into getting some tung oil when that runs out, thanks again dude
-
All sounds brilliant Carl. Did you manage to get that carbon shroud on without it touching the cylinder? Don't worry if it isn't suitable, I will still be happy with original shroud shortened and he barrel threaded, provided I'm not left with that crappy shroud rattle lol
-
Yeah, I took mine down and applied two layers of tru oil over two days. Looks stunning, I then went over it with the wire wool again and now it's dull and deep mate. Turns out Carl had some nice thick carbon in so if it doesn't touch the cylinder when fitted then that's how it'll arrive. I've had a short notice payment to make this month (car issue) so Carl is gonna hold on to my rifle til I can pay on payday, such a shame cos I'm desperate to get it back. If it's half as good as Carl's work has been described I'll be one happy callsign

Carl, when you reply to a thread you can add pictures using the paperclip icon or the icon that looks like a camera or the one that looks like a grey box with mountains in it

To be honest pianoman Carl's prices are very reasonable, just a Reg for the Regal is only £75 (according to his website pricelist) worth a look mate. Totally agree bigmac, I've sanded down my stock with grade 000 wire wool, put a few layers of walnut oil and the grain has really come out, looks stunning now, just got to bring down the shine.

Hello all, quick update on my Regal. I sent it to Carl at AirTech about 4 weeks ago, he's been off his feet busy for the last few weeks so he only managed to start it at the end of last week, which doesn't concern me as the standard of his work is legendary. Luckily for me though, I called and spoke to him just before he got cracking, we discussed what he could do to make it better. So, as well as the great tune and reg, he is now going to either, shorten the existing shroud, bush and thread the barrel (for my belita to fit directly), or if he has any carbon, make a brand new shroud for me tha

Always wanted a Rapid, maybe a TX200 HC .177, or something in .20. The reason for wanting to get rid is that I just haven't bonded with the , doesn't matter what I do to it, I just don't think we're destined to be together. She shoots great and I get really good accuracy out of her, she just doesn't feel like she's "mine". If you get what I mean?
-
Not yet no, not heard anything either. But I know he's a perfectionist and when it does come back it will be the spaniels spuds
-
Thanks guys, I may get a better deal on a trade for the rifle I want
-
Hi guys, sorry for another "what's it worth" thread, but I am interested on the value of my beloved to fund another purchase (undecided on what yet). It's taken me a while to get it where it is, but this is it: HW80K .22 (2011 model) CS500 Stock V-Mach Slimtech Silencer (5 inch) V-Mach kit Brass safety Brass trigger guard Brass stock caps (Hex bolts) Cobra leather sling (very high quality) Simmons Prohunter 6-18X40 SF One piece Mount It's in great nick with no marks and shoots very well. What are your thoughts on value? Thanks in advance

My Updated Bsa Ultra

My Regal was sent to Carl via courier this morning, I'm looking forward to seeing your opinion is, looks like you'll be ready before mine. Please keep us posted, I will also be knocking out a short review when I get it back. Excited is an understatement lol -
100% Bell-End

I do wonder how Daystate have managed to still be perceived (maybe only by some) as one of the best producers of air rifles in the UK. It sounds like their QC has been in steady decline for quite a few years, when they were first brought to my attention, they were a rifle maker that most would aspire to have in their armory (or at least I did). How could they let themselves drop so far? Or, have they always had issues and it's just that information is just much more accessible now?

totally agree, so once sorted it will be £920 I think a lot of Regal owners will be with you on that point . I so much wanted to like this gun ,in the end had no confidence after one problem after another , but like i said if I can get another one cheap then i will and spend some money getting it how it should of been for a £800 gun !! Totally agree, once sorted it will have cost me £920, but when sorted, it will be one hell of a gun

The thing is, I took the Regal out on Sunday (just target work), charged it to the sweet spot (180 bar), was getting pellet on pellet at 35 yards. It's such a joy to shoot when it's spot on, I am hoping the service and reg will mitigate those "off" days it has. There are times when the zero is way off, I can only think that these times are when it's off the power curve or when the shroud clips, but I don't want to have to worry about those things, I want to pick it up, quick zero and off I go. My confidence has been shaken with the Regal, I want so much to love it, and will when I'm confident
-
Couldn't agree more pianoman. I'd been lusting after a Daystate since I was a teen and finally got one to have this disappointment. It's far from acceptable
-
That's what I think pianoman. Once the issue is sorted it will take some beating
-
I shoot with a friend and he has a HW100KS FSB and it's a lovely thing, it just leaves me a little cold, IMHO it lacks soul. Very nice bit of kit and no one can argue their quality and performance, but they're not for me I don't think. Once the Regal is sorted and regged I think it will be amazing.

Lads, spoken to Carl at AirTech and he can fit my Regal in immediately and it's only £120, thank you for the advice, I will post an update when I get it back.
