Thanks, if you remember me, I'm just a hog dogger but I run lurchers and long dogs unlike most in my country, hence my fondness to this forum and section. I love the lurchers.

I used to hunt pigs with bay dogs and bull dogs the typical way it's done here. I choose now to hunt the finder holder type dogs the way the Aussie guys do cause I like the style a lot better personally. I was around some bull terriers and small catch dog back when I first started. Some folks really like the small lead in catch dog but I do not and the bull terrier helped me to realize this. The bull terrier I was around caught on the snout. This really caused the boars to fight and thrash much more so than when they were caught on the ear. The bull terrier not being very big could

Got a new phone several months back and haven't been able to post pictures to the forum from it. Giving it another go but looks like I'm gonna be one at a timing it. Every evening since the pups were old enough to run and play, they have have put on a show about the time the sun goes down. They are 10 months old now. I have 3 of them but 2 are all that's in the picures. The big redish orange dog is over 100#s, standing 31 inches right now. The female is a just approaching 27 inches and is around 70 pounds.

Sorry to hear that. Tuff on the soul to have to make decisions like that. We put a lot of time and effort into our working dogs and get very attached to them. Really sucks when a decision has to be made when when a working dog can no longer be both a worker and a friend, just 1. Really pulls at ones heart strings.

Nice looking dogs. -
big f****r that mate do they have wild boar in the US or is it just feral hogs? European boar have a tooth that strictly feral pigs do not have. Never caught a pig that I knew of that didn't have the extra tooth. Meaning they are a hybrid of sorts. Not totally European and not totally true feral

Thanks DC. Only reason I even mentioned lurchers being used for boar is they are pretty special dogs same as dogs capable of taking deer. Nine grow in trees and are very carefully bred for usually. Talking about lurchers and sight hounds of course. Lurchers and sight hounds fast enough and hard enough to take boar or red stag is a very interesting dog to talk about. Coyote dogs included. Are the feral hogs or wild boar you hunt mate? Yes pigs are my game. I mostly use a line of dogs that are comprised of wolfhound deerhound mastiff

Very unlikely you have a dog that could even handle an average pg much less a good one. You sound like a jelous boring fool since you can't even catch dogs with deer now. Here is something your ignorant jelous as is gonna hate, the dogs I run catch and kill coyotes and are used to catch and kill deer in contracted areas. Your a fool! Yes mate im so jealous of you , that much im gonna beg you to let me know the secret lmao seriously read my posts properly you backward twat. I break my dog to boar. means i dont want to hunt them with my dogs. Before the ban i only wanted to hunt deer

Yes he is a stag. I've never run a rabbit with him.

This dog handles big boars by himself, runs down and kills coyotes, and is fast enough to catch deer.

Many different styles of dogs used to catch boar and many different ways to hunt them with dogs. Pair the wrong styles of dogs together and it will equal very bad things. Hunt a particular style of dog the wrong way and it will also equal bad bad problems. Lots and lots of folks don't truly understand why certain catch dogs within certain breeds have knacks for doing so well at staying injury free while performing soooo well. The common thought here in the USA is any dog that will catch and hold a big boar is a good catch dog. Very difficult to talk honestly with such people. Many

First thing I do for any wound is flush really well with iodine or hydrogen peroxide. I have a big syringe and blunt needle I will fill full of this stuff and squirt it up in puncture wounds to flush out and kill bacteria thats been drove deep into the wound. Bandages, vet wrap, staple gun, quick clot blood clotting sponges, and some small scissors. That's all in the little bag I always have close. The main bag has a little more in it than this but also contains more of the same.

Whippet X Jagdterrier What To Expect From This Lurcher???
BlackStreak replied to Minkenry's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Wow what a cross! If I was into small game, that would certainly be a cross I would like to try. I bet they are hell on wheels! -
Raw wild pig is mostly what my dogs eat when I'm home. I freeze most of it but give them fresh meat fairly often. I don't worry about diseases from them consuming the fresh raw meat and bones because if the pig had something contagious it would pass along to the dogs, the dogs would have already contracted it when they caught the pig. That question tends to be asked a lot. I freeze the intestines inside the torso for several days before allowing the dogs to consume the intestines. You would be hard pressed to find healthier dogs around me than what I have. I'm gonna go fi

I shared this info to debunk the idea that more guns equal more deaths. As pointed out by others, it's other policies that have so much to do with the level of crime and violence. Taking away our liberties is not the answere as many believe.

Evidently France does have awsome gun controle measures and according to just that, seems like a very safe place to live in a big city. I however would not give up my rights and liberties I have come to know, love, and cherish. As far as finding any stats on lawful uses of guns for protection, I did just did a quick search and all I found was conflicting information that was very biased against guns. The only consistent info I found was 258 justifiable homicides in 2012. This is justifiable killings only and not crimes forted by pulling the gun and holding criminals at gun point
