    To be honest I don't understand the benefit of a section just for whippets other than hiding from the haters opinions. As a whippet owner I have to say that I actually enjoy the banter.

    I think that most whippets take teeth but it feels a bit like driving a saloon over a field as supposed to a 4x4 or like playing Christiano Ronalo in defence. Yes it can be done but it's not what they are built (or bread rather) for.

    But to answer your question: I have a go beating and I work a whippet and a Lurcher.. I don't take them with me though - I just go beating and flag waving. For beating the guys on the shoot use cockers and Springers. Labs for picking up I hope that this helps

    Hi, I have joined a local shoot in a trade off where I go beating in exchange for hunting permission with my Lucher and Whippet. Happy days. I am currently beating without a dog but would like to take on a pup for next season. The decision that I am struggling with is - Springer or Cocker. When I speak to the Springer guys they tell me to get a Springer because they are more intelligent but when I speak to the cocker guys they tell me to get a cocker because they are more steady. For me the dog needs to be: Bidable Intelligent Fast Steady All opinions welcome!

    Deerhunter gear is very good but expensive. Not really aimed at us lot - more for shooters but it is very high quality, durable light gear

    Surely the best thing for a dog is a good diet? How much change can you see from supplements?

    I manage to fit mine in the inside pocket of my wax jacket. This is ideal for when you are trying to appear like you are just walking the dog.

    Picked up the DL 120 Gamekeeper from D.Lloyd on here. It arrived 2 days after I sent the money and i have to say - what a piece of kit!! Technology really is at its finest on this lamp. Very tight beam that is more than what I need on my permission (and I have some big old fields there). I remember Gaz_1989 and Tommy27 put a YouTube video on that showed the DL 120 Gamekeeper and compared it to some other lamps and the 120 was noticeably better.
