6 weeks on the lead. My bitch broke her 2nd toe on right front paw in July chasing brown! My Mrs (who is a vet) told me that if I keep her on the lead for 6 weeks it will heal properly and I won't have any re occurring problems., I did what she said... she wasn't lying! BBB

Hare Coursing In The Desert Southwest (Usa)
Blueboybilly replied to Dan McDonough's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
That doesn't mean they would run that way single handed.Do you think those dogs were working as a pack ??? ..... I know dogs don't always run to the best of their ability when doubled up or ran with more dogs. If my dogs didn't run to their best of their ability because there was competition then they wouldn't be in my yard long ... I would expect my dogs to be working twice as hard if there was another dog competing for game ....... It pains me to say it but I agree with Socks here! Three dogs on one hare in that amount of space should've been over with quickly - and yeah, for me if -
Alight lads I had my final wrap up night out on the lamp last night. When do you guys finish? BBB

Well fcuk me!! I've seen it all now!!

I use the ACME 211:5 Tried other cheap whistles before that before settling with this because it was celearly the best. Trained my whippet on it from 8 weeks old and his recall is impaccable. The trick is (when training) - don't call him in when you know that he might not come in. Only call him in when you know he will come back to start with.. basically don't give him the option to fail

whip/Beddy/grey Or Collie/Grey Probably the latter

Northernlight might be able to help you

I take it that they are good off road? Are they fast?

Hi, I'm in the market for a quad. Going to use it for getting around the undulating countryside while helping the Gamekeeper on my local shoot and also for pulling a trailer with to help my bother clearing logs out of his woods. I want it to be able to good on road but my main focus would be off road! Can anyone suggest a Quad? I have £5000

Breed Most Valued In A Lurcher
Blueboybilly replied to springfield's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'm going to put the cat amongst the pigeons here and say that a decent pure bread working whippet is more than capable of tackling MOST quarry (pre ban). But if I was after bigger stuff then my personal choice would be a Bull Greyhound. I've got a Beddy/Grey and a Pure Whip. Both good at different things. Beddy/Grey is a touch faster and taller than the Whip and she is a lot easier to get about with because she is tall enough to jump any gate or fence and she doesn't leave my side (unless I make a hissing sound when there is something to run at). Perfect night time dog! The pure whippet 'ha -
I see them on freshly ploughed and newely sowed fields all of the time on the shoot. Might be because they can dig a seat really easily and they are still difficult to spot to be honest

Sorry pal

The topic is about fast dogs.. not a specific litter.. can't you read you thick c**t?

A Cheetah.... Haha

Sorry if this is a silly question but does anyone know of a dog that can compete with a Greyhound for pace?
-
Not being funny mate but 800 isn't going to break the bank for everyone. Especially if it is exactly what they want (after looking at the bloodlines etc). You could expect to pay this money for a well bread working cocker French Mastifs go for £2000... now that IS a lot of money for a dog that doesn't do anything!!

Got a freezer full of rabbits and I'm not feeding them to the dogs anymore. I'm having them!! What are you guys favourite recipes?

Got caught this morning on some cracking local fields (just having a look to see if there was still a healthy rabbit population). The land was adjacent to a public footpath and I know that I shouldn't be there. The landowner noticed me and jumped out of his tractor and politely asked that I don't exercise my dog on his fields in the day but told me that he would like me to come on at night Lamping to sort out his rabbit problem! Happy days!! I'm going to have a look tonight! Happy New Year lads!

Same as mine that is.. mine will hunt up in the day but doesn't at night

Whippet X Greyhound Bad Points
Blueboybilly replied to springfield's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Real wiz bangers mate. If you put the time into one of these you'll have a phenomenal rabbiting dog -
I am training my whippet to work off the slip at the moment. He's caught a few when going on my command and won't hunt up. He does get excited on the first couple of times the lamp is on and does have a tendency to run straight down the beam as soon as it is switched in.. just out of pure anticipation

Blueboybilly replied to Blueboybilly's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Benzyl Benzoate, good stuff Is it the same stuff that people use on horses? Do I need to mix it with anything? -
Lads. My whippet has progressively been loosing hair on his underbelly to the point where he almost has a bald chest, Are their any products out there that I can use? BBB
