Yes.. It's normal mate

You might be missing the point mate.. I don't think that they are supposed to make your dog run better. Are you worried about your Itallian Greyhound again?

So In the history of performing this procedure over years and years on Millions of dogs the Daily Mail has managed to conclude that all of a sudden this is a dangerous procedure because of the following: 1. In 2009, a Yorkshire terrier named Scotty developed epitheliotropic lymphoma at the site of his microchip implant, and died 2. In the same year, a Chihuahua named Charlie Brown died within hours of being chipped. 3. And in October 2010, a lawsuit was filed in the U.S. by Andrea Rutherford against Merck Sharp & Dohme and Digital Angel Inc. because her cat, Bulkin, developed

You can't show a non ped whippet mate. Not as a whippet anyway but you could do as a lurcher. Think that there was a thing called 'Scruffs' (Crufts for crossbreed dogs) and you can show Lurchers at game fairs. I think that it will be the same for whippet racing but you can race him as a lurcher and any whippet / lurcher racing club will let him run there. Working as well as the above shouldn't be a problem. Lots of whippet breeders sell their dogs as show, working & racing whippets so no reason why you can't do it all with yours.

Whats a rabbit weigh about 3lb? What do Italian greys weigh, under 3lb?I doubt that. Ive had tiny russells catch and kill rabbits. Apart from that why should Samurai lie about it. He didnt actually make any claims about the dog catching rabbits,I asked him a direct question about it. I'm sorry for being pessimistic towards your idea.. I'm sure that with the right nurture you'd get a decent rabbiting dog mate. hopefully we'll see plenty of pictures of what he/she gets in the future! BBB Please read thread.. It was a question for discussion only.So not an idea. Same to east coast, thanks. Oka

I'm sorry but I can't see an Italian greyhound catching rabbits! Rats and squirrels maybe but I'm not believing rabbits. A healthy Male rabbit would be heavier than your average Italian grey

Good on you. I'm always pleased to hear it when whippets from pet and show homes go into the field and do really well on rabbits. Ped whippet is 13 months now and a bit to playful and puppyish but man has he got some fire in his little belly! Going to start him on the lamp just before the start of next season I think. I have got really high hopes for him! For now the Beddy, whippet,Greyhound is showing him the ropes! atb

How old was he when he got his first Trev?
-
Got a beddy/grey outside and a ped whippet inside. The beddy/grey can handle the cold better but she has a thicker coat as expected. The Whippet is a little over aggressive but like the others have said - it shouldnt make any difference to the way that they work and I can't see any defects in their relationship either.

DLloyd. Yeah I can wait. Will you private message me when you are ready?

I'm looking to buy a new lamp - I have got the Tracer 150 LED rechargeable (built in battery). This lamp is really good but doesn't provide quite enough distance on the bigger fields and it's a bit to week when the red filter is on. What does everyone think? I'm after a greater distance and better performance under the filter

Lurcher Being Dragged From A Van !!
Blueboybilly replied to Saluki246's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I can never get my head around this kind of cruelty. The poor dogs feet must of been shagged! The press could be exaggerating a touch but the fact remains - no dog would enjoy being dragged around Fenton Industrial Estate out of the back of a van on Tarmac! I doubt that the lads involved would like to be dragged out the back of a tranny van barefoot!! D!ck heads -
Had to get my Lurcher bitch jabbed just 2 weeks ago after my brothers German Shepherd got tied with her. I can't imagine many people wanting Bedlington greyhound German Shepherd puppies so I spent the £45 for the injection. Luckily my Mrs is a vet so she just did it at home but I consider this to be a small price to pay! Bite the billet pal and get injected!

My Saluki Pup - Born 14/08/15
Blueboybilly replied to johnboynewt's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Nice dog pal. Are you looking at using her on the rabbits? -
Have a look at the article the Skycat put on here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/the-value-of-tug-games-with-puppies/ This helped me a lot but I had to improvise a lot and think outside of the box. My Ped whippet now puts my father in laws working gun dogs to shame with his retrieving!! Much to his dislike!! The comments that Casso made are also worth listening to - he clearly knows his stuff and helped me when I was having problems with my pup. The ally way method that Brenner mentioned was also one that I used to tidy things up for myself too. Main thing is to stick at it. So

With the season ending and the brighter evenings around not to far away I will start to focus my attention back to training my dogs. I have got a Ped Whippet (12 months old) and a newly acquired Bedlington Greyhound (2.5 years old). I have read 'The Working Whippet' by Helen Hansell and 'The Complete Lurcher' by Brian Plumber. I took a hell of a lot from the Working Whippet book but the Complete Lurcher was a frustrating read for me and i found it difficult to sift through the paragraphs of stories/opinions before I got to some decent training tips. I get lots of satisfaction from

When Are You Finishing Your Rabbiting Season?
Blueboybilly posted a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
With rabbit numbers really starting to decrease and many rabbits that I am catching full of 'young' I will be calling it a season at the end of the month. Just wanted to get an idea of when everyone else finishes on the rabbits. -
I only ever go on my own. As jukel123 says; nobody winging about getting home or the cold etc. There is also something spectacular about just me and the dog sharing the experiences in the field. For me it is special that the dog and I working together, bonding and forging fond memories. However; one think that throws me every time is sheep coughing!

Looks like a fast hound northernlite. I'm sure that you're going to have plenty fun with that!!
