Just came into possession of a Nikon prostaff 3-9x40 BDC 150 the rimfire version. It's in immaculate condition and the sight picture is very good. Just wondering if anyone has experience or an opinion on using this type of scope? I'll be mounting it on my Brno Mod 2 for rabbits and general vermin. Appreciate any tips or observations.

What Deer Calibre For First Deer Rifle.
calypso0007 replied to shropshire dan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Just some info for you, the 30-06, .308 and the 6.5 X 55 are all "military calibres" though with the 30-06 & 6.5mm not recently. I have shot boar with the 6.5mm and they dropped perfectly well. The .308 replicates approximately the same performance as the 30-06 but does so more efficiently. The recoil from the 6.5mm is kinder than the others and in scandinavia the hunters have been using the round for over a century to take moose. It would appear that in the hands of someone competant it is adequate for significantly larger game than boar. Whichever you go with, bon chance! -

Thanks Bunny Boiler, that is exactly what I require. Slainte! -
Has anyone any suggestions as to where a chap might source a cleaning jag suitable for a 6.5mm calibre rifle? Not having much success with the local gun shops.

Views On Shooting Foxes When Cubs Are About?
calypso0007 replied to slipper's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I take your point shropshire dan; a friend who also shoots made exactly the same observation. In the same circumstances now, I would try to dispatch the cubs as well. We all try to live and learn from our errors. this was one of mine. -

Last time I shot a fox (not recently), it was because it had gotten into a hen run and had done quite a bit of damage and I was asked to cull it if the opportunity presented itself. About 15 minutes after I had taken the shot; three fox cubs came over the rise, looking for mum. Have to admit that did not sit well with me. Probably should have taken them as well but I hadn't the heart for it. Big jelly baby I guess! -
Just to mention, received today a 10rd CZ magazine from http://riflemags.co.uk/brno-model-2/ Have to say a pleasure to deal with, kept me informed about the order and a very prompt reply to any query I put to them. Really good service all round!
