  1. Been making a few knives recently, thought I'd share this one, my first friction folder. It's not perfect but it has rustic character! It's a uk legal carry, scales are padauk, left over from a fretboard destined for a cigar box guitar. The bolts were found in the garage, the file for the blade was donated by my dad, the tip of it had chipped and the handle had broken off. Even the fuel used to anneal and harden was from an old pallet from work. I based the design on the svord peasant, the letters didn't work very well but the knife works great. Hardened to roughly 60 on the rockwell scal
  2. Lovely bit of kit. Really fancy a 95 myself. I've heard a short stroke kit can get rid of that hold sensitivity that Davy is talking about, might be worth a look if you find it a problem? Enjoy it as is for now though!
  3. I'm not sure about the faster lock time thing to be honest. A faster spring can just cause more recoil. Short stroking is about getting the optimum swept volume, hence why I bought a 99 as it's the closest thing to ideal for uk standards. I know tbt is doing short stroke drop in kits, they might be worth a look, you could probably get a bespoke kit for the 85. I've seen one 85 before it looked awesome
  4. Not my kind of knife but awesome craftsmanship, you should be really proud of that
  5. A bit of opportunist foraging at the weekend - on a 7 mile hike with the lads and stumbled upon a damson tree, got a pound and a half in the freezer now
  6. The Bradford city AA book has some particularly good trout water, that is around £50 a year, and I bumped into a couple of anglers from London before who were having a holiday up here for a week of trout fishing that had bought the book.
  7. £32 a year for various miles of several great trout rivers here in Yorkshire.
  8. Haha fairplay to you Mark and I thought I was tight!!
  9. Lovely that mark. Have you got yourself a chrono now?
  10. Sinister. I think a few of these clowns will end up being on the receiving end of a good beating if it carries on
  11. You thinking of ordering a takeaway Walshie?
  12. No worries - he does good solid stuff that won't break the bank with good service to boot
  13. I'm not so much on about the finish or components, as I am about swept volume.
  14. I think it's a bit pants that a British air rifle maker have to short stroke there rifles to improve the firing cycle. They should be the ones making spring rifles spot on for the uk market. Until that time the Germans will still dominate the uk springer market IMO.
  15. If you just want to purely enjoy fishing for them, fly fishing with a dry fly on a summers evening is the way to go. If your after one for the table then I'd go with a worm or small spinner. If your after a decent one a live minnow works well
  16. Some round here too. A bit exotic looking! I'm sure I've seen an airgun article or similar on controlling them?
  17. Belters! They have to be over 5, maybe 6??
  18. Brilliant. Hoping to head up north in mid October for a few nights fishing/camping
  19. I've been thinking about giving lobs a go. I really don't mind the odd perch either! But the trout love them. I'll give them a go though! I've heard about the wasp thing, never tried it but if anyone is willing to donate some feel free haha. In all fairness I saw a couple of pike at the deep spot and I've never had a river pike before...
  20. Nice one Kanny, that sounds mint. They are cracking chub! Just returned home from a short session, at the deeper slower spot, above the weir. Fished the stick float and centrepin, with breadflake and breadmash. Suprise suprise Mr trout turned up, as did a smallish grayling, which I thought was quite surprising. Minnows started destroying the swim as did the ducks. I was expecting more in the way of coarse fish, roach in particular. I might just have to wait until we are a few frosts in when hopefully the minnows have buggered off to try with maggot/caster etc. Ey well got to be in it to w
  21. Keep with it Phil. Springers can be hard work but they are worth the effort, not lifeless like pcps.
