.22Lr On An 8 Acre Stable, A A New Fac Holder
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I also have a rather large permission. The land owner agreed both section 1 and 2. To put it plainly, he can not read or write and has no wish for my FLO to visit. So even with an open ticket he will not provide written permission, just verbal. I still shoot there with my sub 12ft HW100 -
When I purchased my 10 gun safe I wonted one which was secure and solid so opted for a model with a 6mm door. Having made my choice I eagerly waited for its delivery. Due to its weight I had arranged for a mate to help. The driver came early (before my help had arrived) and began to unload. He put it on the tail lift with his pallet truck, jumped off and raised the tail lift to shoulder height (the made the 6` box some 11` in the air) I just managed to stop him throwing it on his shoulder, he had miss read the 110kg on the box as 110lbs!!!! http://www.winterfieldsafes.co.uk/buffalo-river-q412

Pahahahhaa. As in poaching? Good one my man. Good one Don't forget to throw in a bit or armed trespass for good measure. There's no mention of "permission". Yes, I do have job`s where I can take my HW100, (farm fencing, tree felling etc.) but I ask the land owner before hand, I never ask if I can shoot and then produce my rifle, I always prearrange. So, in answer to your question, "yes" But if you mean a few crafty shots out of my 4x4`s window, then no, see comments above.

Air Gun Filling Problem
David Aiken replied to Nik1970's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Try using the "pump" for a bit. My HW100s will do this if I let it go to low. Regular topping up seams best! -
I found Theraband gold (triple) good but perished far to quickly. I have gone back to 12" of 3/8" rubber. I still use my granddads hand made lead ball maker (from cir 1910) which makes 3/8" balls. My catty Its one hell of a pull, but I can put a hole in a steel bean can thrown in the air.

.22Lr On An 8 Acre Stable, A A New Fac Holder
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Whilst on the subject of new FAC, I have kept a full and detailed account of my application process, times, dates ect... I will print this when my FAC finally turns up! I did ask one question of my FLO, can fox be shot with a .22lr? (Kent Police) Not really as people push the boundary, if we say 50yds people will try 60yds (and so on). What about .223, yes that fine! 300yds? My question is, if people push the distance with a .22lr, wont people also push the distance with .223 as well? Its as if we cant be trusted to shoot fox with .22lr at sub 50yd distances? As the BASC say “It’s the calibre -
I was hoping to date with out the serial number as I see ads for the 1417 which say "nearly new", I was wondering how long they had been around to get an idea as to "how new"?

.22Lr On An 8 Acre Stable, A A New Fac Holder
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks, so if I have an invite to shoot on a farm who`s land has been FAC .22lr checked, I can shoot? My FLO seamed to think if I was on a paid shoot or paid holiday shoot I was ok, but no mention as to your suggestion. The whole experience thing gets me, I began shooting with my uncle (British Army 27 years) at 8 years old (well over 40 years ago) we shot regular with air rifles for 5 years or so, learning my "craft", backdrop ect.. I have been shooting regularly ever since, but this doesn't seam to count as experience? -
Hi all, I am trying to age an Anschutz. How long has the Anschutz 1417 .22lr been available from the factory in thumbhole stock? (ie, not as an after market stock)
-
Hi all, I have been approved for a .22lr on an 8 acre stable. I am sure, as a new FAC holder I will be restricted to this land. I will be holidaying on a working/shooting farm (Luckyard Farm) The farm is 300 acres and the owner has already said I can shoot my .22lr, shotgun and PCP air rifle (as it a shooting holiday farm it checked to a larger calibre than this) as long as my FAC is an “open” certificate. Will my FLO allow an “open” FAC to a new FAC holder?

Hi all, my name is David. I have been shooting at local Clay grounds (JJ`s, Abbey @ Detling and Greenfields) for 3 years now. I have enjoyed Pheasant, Pigeon and Varmint days. I have a PCP HW100S Air Rifle and a 12g Semi-auto Shotgun. Having just acquired my FAC, I have purchased a Webley Patriot .25 and an Anschutz 1417 .22lr Thumbhole rifle. (just waiting to collect!) I have experience of shooting around livestock and farm property and have gained permission to shoot at my brother-in-law's Stable (8 acres) I run D&K MAINTENANCE a small, local maintenance company based in Rainham, Medway
