So the Hawke Panorama ev 4-12x50 ao ir is out if stock so due to being upgraded and wont be available until August! Not a lot of good if your shooting this weekend! On a1tackels advise I've gone for the new Nikko Stirling Panamax 4.5-14x50 ao ir Rifle Scope / Illuminated Half Mil Dot. Any one used one? How will it compare to the Hawke? http://www.uttings.co.uk/p118945-nikko-stirling-panamax-4-5-14x50-ao-ir-rifle-scope-npmxi451450/#.VVm_Q2fbLIU

Anschutz 1417 A Day Out!
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yep, totally agree. The drop and wind are to problematic for hunting at distance. Enough theoretical energy to take a Rabbit at 200 yards, but near imposable to preform. I have a well positioned bush which is 70 yards to the fence where most of the Rabbit appear, so meaning 95% of my shots can be taken at 50-60 yards but knowing I can stretch to 70 yards if need be. -
Anschutz 1417 A Day Out!

Even so, I`ll be sticking to the 30-70 yard range! Fine for a Rabbit kill @ 70 yards, absolutely deadly at 50! -

Second picture -
Well, the first days zero testing was a success! The first pic is 7 shots @ 100 yards and the second @ 70 yards. I'd say the HW100 would have trouble beating the 1417 even @ 35 yards! Very please with the 70 yard grouping, especially as the wind kept picking up :-)

Anschutz 1417 What Scope?
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yep, only a .22lr at the moment, but as this will be a keeper, it will be mounted on what every I own in the future. The jolly old 25 Wedding Anniversary is coming up and a Beretta Silver Pigeon was on the cards but, I have several Shotguns so it looks as if my "keeper" will be a Zeiss Conquest DL 3-12x50 IR. £800 or there about for my gun, £900 or there about for the scope, job done -
Anschutz 1417 What Scope?
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Maybe a high quality (£500-800) 6x50 (or 40) zero on 60 yards. Only a 2" difference between 20-70 yards so aim slightly high for long shots and low for near, every thing in the middle will be spot on and don't worry about the zoom? -

If I buy new I`m thinking of a Nikon Pro Staff 5 3.5-14x50 IR SF Rifle Scope. Can we get the Custom Turret in the UK? http://spoton.nikonsportoptics.com/spoton/xrt/spoton.html#turret:1 -
Ok, I have my Anschutz 1417 (turned up in perfect condition, hardly used!) with its cheap Rhino 3-9 x 50 Scope, It is spot on at 60 yards with Eley subs, but it deserves a better scope. What scope power are you all using? The 9 x mag seams a little lean @ 70-75 yards for me old eyes and I was thinking more of a 4-12 mag range, or not, (fixed mag?) I`m open to advise here. (40 to 50 objective?) So the question is, with theses 5 price ranges what would your preferred Scope for a Anschutz 1417? (Rabbits 30 yards to yards). I`m happy to spend £100 if the "perfect scope" exists at that price,

16 weeks is point of lay. so by 22 weeks you should have 6 eggs per week per bird for at least a couple of months until they settle into the correct laying amount for the particular species of laying bird. The all look to be at least 30 weeks to me?

Weihrauch Hw 100 Kt Or Air Arms S510 Superlite
David Aiken replied to jeff 007's topic in General Airgun Discussion
In sub 12ftlbs you need just two rifles, a HW100s in .22 and a HW100kt in .177 (Just the HW100kt in .177 to go Mrs Wife ) -
So....Not only is it time to try the O/U Sabatti which I have been given, I have just realized the trip to Detling (Abbey) Clay grounds can be halved by taking the Hurstwood Road Green lane route! Feeling rather pleased #sogladigotmygreenlanepermit.

How Do I Check The Lb S On My Pcp Air Rifle
David Aiken replied to Bergman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
No point having a crono in your car boot! If your out in the field and check and find its over 12 ftlbs, unless you have the tools for a strip down and adjust you are in possession of a section 1 firearm. It don't matter if you put it away in your boot all safely lock away, its still a section 1 without a FAC!! -

Hopefully I`ll be there -
The owner is a fault. If you are delivering a letter ect and the need arises to push the item through the letter box, the home owner is at fault regardless of the actual letter box its self, dog, cat ect that caused the injury. By having a letter box you have granted permission for it use, and as such it is governed by law.

David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in 4x4's, Quads & ATV's
Its hard to know what is shut (restricted) There are several at Cliffe including the RSPB Nature Reserve. Perry Hill towards Cliffe. Cobham looks good and I am sure Bredhurst woods (Scragged Oak) is open? Some in Lower Rainham and Hook Wood. There are several at Boxley Warren and Burham. I just don't know how to get started? http://www.bywaymap.com/index.html -
So, where can I go Green Laning in North & mid Kent? I am near Boxley, Detling, Thurnham and the surrounding area. I see routes but as a newbe I am unsure where to start!
