I am surprised the BBC reported this!!! What with their love of the ever so fluffy lovable Mr Fox! It wouldn't have trapped me for more than the time it took to load my gun! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-33360817

So, the 25th anniversary is looming and `er in doors` has agreed to buy me a nice new HW45 (The silver Pigeon, Silver, get it, 25th Silver, will have to wait) So I have two questions. Question One: .177 or .22 (I think .177 but open to suggestions!) This HW45 will be used mainly for target but occasionally for Rabbit dispatch @ under 20 feet. Question Two: We (She) would like the HW45 engraved (who? and Laser or engraver?) I have seen a company @ Bluewater Shopping Centre who laser engrave Wedding ring, not sure if they would/could do a HW45? What do you all think?

I've got the tin! lol!

I`ve finally done it, finished the original tin of 500 Webley pellets that came with my Webley Tempest! Yep, all 500 gone in just....35 years! Needleless to say the old Tempest is run-in and in fine condition!

Town besieged by seagulls smashes 600 eggs in crackdown ahead of tourist season I wonder how long it will be before the RSPCA / RSPCB begin to take the whole town to court? lol! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/11706888/Town-besieged-by-seagulls-smashes-600-eggs-in-crackdown-ahead-of-tourist-season.html

Brand New Hw100 .22 Accuracy ?
David Aiken replied to vizlauk's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Any .22 pellet through my HW100s gives 1" groups @ 35 yards! I find H&N FTT 5.53 the best, less than 3/4" @ 35 yards. -
No apparently about it, we have Wild Boar in Kent. As hardly anyone can shoot Boar, so numbers are increasing!

How Many Rounds Do You Use In A Year?
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I knew I had read this somewhere! BASC: FIREARM CERTIFICATE “OPEN” CONDITIONS What do the police require to make a condition less restrictive? In practical terms the police can only really assess whether an ‘open’ condition may be granted by looking at ammunition usage and the time you have possessed the firearm (not from when the authority was given to purchase it) and whether the holder has come to the attention of the police i.e. through accidents or misuse of their firearms. -
Fac : Flo Permission `v` Land Owner Permission.
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I intend to, just need to wait for the fields to be disked up and dry out so I can see the bullet splash for correction. I'd need a steel barn door otherwise! LOL If you have access to tractor, theses are a good bet! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steel-Road-Plate-2400mm-x-1200mm-x-22mm-Price-inc-VAT-/131527018562?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e9f9f0842 -
Fac : Flo Permission `v` Land Owner Permission.
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I may be wrong but it would appear from talking to 3 Kent FLO`s this is indeed the case, all permission is put on an individuals file, if like me they have a closed ticket I guess the reason the FLO wants me personally to keep sending in the slips is the land has been preliminary okayed for .22lr by him but is not on the database and will save a visit each time a new permission he's already seen is granted? Plus if the land is on my file, I hope when I have 6 or 7 different types of land (footpath, animals, property, flat field, hilly ect..) on my record, I've more chance of an open FAC -

Fac : Flo Permission `v` Land Owner Permission.
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
At my 1st permission the FLO met myself and the landowner, reported back to my FLO, (as this was my 1st permission), sorted. At my 2nd permission (different area) another FLO met myself and the landowner, agreed okay for .22lr and entered this on my record (as I haven't an open licence), sorted. This land will now also be on the database, sorted. While the FLO was at the 2nd permission he agreed for several pieces of surrounding land for .22lr use. (8 or so, ranging from 2-6 acres) However these will not go on the database until I send in the Police permission slips, as and when I get permissi -
So, I get how my 1st permission works. Visit by the local FLO, land assessed, (.22lr) report to my FLO. Visit from my FLO with relevant paperwork, he entered the details onto the database sorted! I get how my 2nd permission worked. Meeting with the local FLO to access land, (he also assesses the surrounding land due to pending permissions / no need to revisit) met landowner, filled in paperwork, entered on the database by the local FLO. Now my 3rd permission, I have sent off the relevant paperwork (signed for as a safety precaution) and as I don't have the name of who will enter my new permiss

I`m off to Eweleaze Farm, it`s only open in August. What I love is the private beach and you can have camp fires on the beach and campsite, firewood provided! http://www.eweleaze.co.uk/camping.htm

Will Buzzards/kites Kill Chickens?
David Aiken replied to trapperman's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Anyone up for a spot of red kite shooting? "And the second is other, larger, birds of prey – such as the once rare but now absurdly overabundant red kite": James Delingploe; The Telegraph http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100049918/anyone-up-for-a-spot-of-red-kite-shooting/ -
Anschutz 1417 What Scope?
David Aiken replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The Hawke Panorama ev 4-12x50 ao ir is a great scope! I have the 3-9 x 40 on my HW100 and its always been a great scope so I was expecting the 4-12x50 to be as good or better. Its not until you compare these scopes side by side that the extra FOV and the increased light proves the x50 lenses is really worth the extra money. The HW100 which I use at 35 yards is perfect with the 40x but the 70 yard Anschutz 1417 is well matched to the extra light of the x50 plus the Anschuts is so light the weight of a x50 scope is hardly noticeable. I am very pleased with the clearness of the view, FOV and the -
I had a friend who after a few years of trying still didn't have anywhere to shoot his PCP. I told him of a large garden I had seen while driving by with a Rabbit problem. Several weeks later when I enquired, he had been refused permission to shoot, odd as I had been told the lady was adamant she wonted rid of the rabbits. Not only did her turn up at the lady's door in full combat gear, he had his gun over his arm! I quizzed him on his approach and the reply was "I always do that" My reply "that's why your always refused permission" And still he just doesn't get it!

Its the house to die for. Very quiet main road with a Fire station 2 miles away so the road is always open in the winter. Just 4 houses on the small main road and the permission is down a 1/4 mile track between the 4 houses. 2 acres set in 50 acres of working farm land. The tree damage due to the Rabbits is sad to see, I counter 17 of the blighters in one area. My main permission is 8 acres of stable which is over twice as far away and rather clinical (treeless) but the new land, even though I have permission for the .22lr I cant wait to use the HW100, so many trees, bushes and hiding places

I had corrugated PVC then corrugated bitumen sheet on my chicken run. Waste of money, I ended up with good old fashioned 3" corrugated metal sheet. I managed to get hold of 1.5mm thick sheets, very heavy, but will last a lifetime!

Yep, this is the only way! Once I had one HW100 and one shotgun, then I had to convince the wife I has ALLWAYS had three shotguns, two air rifles and the Anschuts .22lr

Its the FAC 30ft-lbs version. Using H&N Baracuda .25 Cal, 31.02gr its a constant 30.2ft-lbs. I've put a better sized replacement fitting for the sight on the barrel The red dot is a trial, the Webley Tru-glo sight covered to much of the target. I wonted something which I can use for Rat and Rabbit 10-20 yards (max!) without the need to focus and without magnification. If all goes well I will look at a better quality red/green/multi reticle sight. or replacement iron sights. Its a sweet gun and groups at 35mm @ 25mts with my so far learnt springer shooting skills. Hopefully I can get this
